Staggered 19"s

Is any one else running staggered on their E? I only put about 15000 on a set of tires and the back ones are toast. Any ideas on how to remedy this? The front are 245/35/19.

What kind of tires: brand, etc.?
What kind of pressure?
What is your normal load?
What are your driving habits?

All those come into play. Normally for that size its a performance tire, sticky, which won't get you much more than you got.

That seems like the norm. Is your car lowered? I got about 8000 out of mine; however my car is lowered significantly

They were hankook Ventus at 44 psi I think. The car isn't lowered any but it looks like the wheels lean in toward the car a bit. The inside edges of the tires are what took the pounding. There is still considerable "meat" on the normal track.

44 psi is overkill. Why did you pump them up that high?

I run staggered 19's on my lowered 500 and get about 10-12K a set. I generally replace them due to noise due to uneven tire wear. So, you're right on par with us. I would definately lower that tire pressure though. I'm guessing you're wearing the middle?

It must be 34. Whatever was on the sidewall of the tire. The inside edge was where all of the damage was. The middle and outer edge were still in really good shape. Should I look into a camber kit?

That sidewall number is MAX. Look at the sticker on your car for better values.

Yep, he's right. The pressure on the sidewall is max pressure. Running that much pressure must have made the ride super harsh. Was it? Also, is your car lowered?

The only thing you can do to help is rotate side to side. If you're running non-directional tires, than it's no problem. But if you run directional, as I do, you have the tires unmounted, then re-mounted on the other wheel. It'll help, but the fact of the matter is if you're gonna run staggered, directional tires, you're gonna have to live with replacing the tires frequently.

The camber kit for our cars doesn't do much. I was told by the alignment guy at my dealership to not even bother.

Thanks guys! I guess I'll just have to keep buying back tires. Anyone know if a good place for 275/35/19?

275/30/19 is the correct size!

tirerack.com

Id go local though, they usually will match the price, and give you a discounted rate on mount/balance. My .02

'05 e320
19s

Hey guys I recently bought an '05 e320 and the first thing i want to do is uprade my wheels. My dealer said not to go over 18" because anything larger will ruin the ride, but for such a big body im guessing 19s shouldnt be too bad. Any suggestions on what type/look i should go for? and how can i be certain to avoid rubbing etc.. thanks.
