Same thing happened in Sacramento recently, but the definition of "oldies" has changed over time as us boomers get older and less attactive to advertisers. It used to mean 50s and 60s; "oldies" now extend to the 80s. I'm old enough to remember when a few stations played Big Band music; now about the only place to hear it is on the 40s channel on XM.
Incidentally, and this is slightly W211-related, can anyone confirm that Sirius no longer has a Big Band/Swing channel? I'm getting a car with Sirius in a few months. I seem to recall seeing a Big Band/Swing channel on a Sirius channel guide in the past, but the closest thing they seem to have now is their Sinatra/American Standards channel. Sirius probably had to clear space for another Howard Stern channel.
