Advantage/disadvantage of last year E-class

Advantage/disadvantage of last year E-class
I placed an order for an 08 E-550 but have wondered the wisdom of ordering the last model year (new E-Class coming summer 09). For me the latest platform has the advantage of known technology and any bugs have probably been massaged out. I sold an 01 E-430 and liked it so well I couldn't wait until the new platform is out in 09. I figure by the time I need a new car in 5 yrs. the new model is several years into it's life with any start up issues resolved. "Never buy a first year model". What are your thoughts on this. And should the 08 be sold at a major discount?

Good points. I think I'll be happy with the 550 for long time to come. It's always nice to get in on new tech esp. if it has anything to do with performance but the 5 series didn't pull it off too well.

2009 will be the last year for the E. You will have the second to last one. I prefer leasing them that way, the bugs are worked out, they have far more stuff in them than when they first came out, and you usually get a great deal on them. I try to never time my leases to coincide with a new model, I prefer to be 1-2 years into the run...
