It Was Worth The Wait!
I test drove one September 20th, and haven't even seen a live one since then. I had forgotten exactly how much I like this car. My previous car was totaled and I was able to step in and take one that had been on order for some time -- poor lady getting a divorce dropped off the list about 1/2 hour before I walked in for the test drive!
Mine hit port 9/25 and was expected here 9/28. It was waiting for some kind of part...I was told for the radio, but they may have been waiting for the in-dash CD changer. It was finally released 10/19. I've had the wood/leather steering wheel on order through Parts for 2 weeks today. They have no idea when it will arrive...
The sound system is excellent. (I never listened to it during the test drive.) Staging is the best I've heard in any car system, whether listening to the 30 year remix of Moonage Daydream (Bowie) or a live instrumental performance like Mediterranean Sundance/Rio Ancho (Paco DeLucia and Al DiMeola).
The Keyless Go shifter does come standard with wood, albeit in the rear instead of the front like the non-Keyless Go. The salesperson was able to get me a full refund from Parts on the knob I ordered.
It's been raining all day here, but the salesperson still sat out in the car with me for about an hour programming and explaining things. We tested the Parktronic using other new Mercedes as targets -- I would have been more comfortable using Yugos... The Keyless Go is still a little difficult with the locking and unlocking while leaving the Smart Key in my pocket. I'm going to go read through some of the manuals now.
This is a great forum and I've learned a lot here. I hope those still waiting get their cars soon, but however long -- it's definitely worth the wait.
