Black Opal!!!

Almost every MB is either black or silver. I have nothing against those colors, but I just get tired of looking at them. After a while, all the MBs look alike. The reason I went for the Black Opal is simple, it looks great and you hardly see another Black Opal in a year! But you have to pay extra for it in 2003.

I agree somewhat with you. The PANO roof option is rare in my area. That means a silver E63 with Pano roof would look different. The same thing applies to an E63 in white with Pano. I am leaning towards charcoal Nappa leather.

I have decided life is short so the E63 is my goal over the next 6-12 months. I will be looking for a loaded 2007 E63 with less than 10,000 miles with the above color combo.

Okay,

What do you think of flint grey with Pana sunroof and black/sahara beige interior? This would be easier to maintain than Black exterior.

My other choice is silver exterior plus pana sunroof with ash or black interior.

Comments?

If I could get $5,000 trunk money from M-B this Christmas then a new E-550 will be ordered. If not, then a used E63 for me in 2008.

I really don't think I need more than 380 HP for my daily commute. Plus, the AMG package makes the '08 E550 look just as good as the E63 IMHO.
I sold my 2000 E430 Sport today.

I agree that Black looks the most regal on the E. But, I have a black 4 runner and do NOT want the upkeep issues with a black car. Plus, I want a color that doesn't absorb the brutal heat in my area.

My favorite combo is black with sahara beige. I have seen cognac in person but prefer the contrast of black with the sahara beige.

What do you think of arctic white with Pano plus black/sahara beige interior?
That seems like a rare combo and the pano roof will give my E550 some uniqueness. What color wood trim? Black?

After giving it much thought I am Really leaning towards the above color combo. I park right next to a '03 Silver E55 and another person I know has an '05 silver E-55 (no pano roof option) so silver may not be the best choice for me.

I could bite the bullet on the maintainance issue of Black but since I keep my cars for 6-7 years the paint chipping on black plus "swirls" would drive me crazy.

Besides deciding which model to purchase ( E350 or E550) I am leaning towards Black or Sienna Black with Sahara Beige Interior.

I live in Florida and have owned MANY colors including Black, Green, Red, Silver, White, etc. I know the work involved with Black exteriors compared to Silver, grey or white (my current E is silver). But, in my opinion the E looks most regal in Black. Since the temperature exceeds 100 F routinely I want a light interior to go with the Black or Sienna Black.

Which of the two "blacks" do you prefer? There are just too many silver and white cars in my area and I want my E to stand out from the crowd.

Also, is the AMG package worth getting since the sport package comes free?
Do you get better seats with the AMG package?

Thanks,

you speak as if white is an easy color to keep clean?I assure you white is an annoying color to keep clean. It "stains" easy and EVERYTHING is noticable on it. Silver is by far the easiest to keep clean and looks clean for months on end with out a lot of work.

I would say flint grey would be a great look especially with the pano roof.

Silver is the easiest color to maintain. White is next. Black and Red are high maint. colors but look fantastic when clean and polished.

white is not an easy color to keep clean, at least here in the northeast. Any shade of the metalic silver is easiest. My red supra wasnt not difficult to keep clean. Black is by far the hardest but imo is also the best looking when polished and kept clean

Exterior color

My wife and I just got back from our local M-B dealer. We looked at many colors/interiors. The dealer had 12 E-350's in stock and one Black E63 with Pano. We also saw the new C class in white with Pano.

My wife liked Black over Sienna Black and Pewter over silver. Since my 2000 E430 was silver she urged me to get a new color. The arctic white with Pano was nice but she called it "youthful" and questioned how it would age over time (trendy?). We both agreed Black with Sahara beige plus AMG package and Burl walnut trim. She preferred the E550 AMG over the E63 Black on black with Pano. She thought the E63 was too agressive and lost some of the class/elegance of the E550 AMG. I told her the E550 was powerful enough and I like the light interior of the sahara beige mixed with the black.

They had sienna black with cognac, pewter, flint grey, indium? grey, iridium silver, arctic white and black in stock. All were E-350's so I did not find out the exact gass guzzler tax on the E550. The E63 was listed at $2100 so I imagine the E550 is still $1300.

If my 2000 E430 was not silver I would probably purchase pewter because black is a bi@#! to maintain in Florida.

What are you guys paying for a 7/100,000 extended warranty?

You live in Florida and are considering black??? I live in Michigan, and black, though handsome in the extreme, is so hot and so hard to keep clean that I decided I'd never again have a black car after 3 years with our black W211.

So our new Touareg V10 TDI is..... yep, Black!

Sorry, but if I lived in FL, I'd bite the bullet and specify white or silver or some other light color. It just ain't worth it!

Good luck - just let your head hold sway over your heart and all will be OK!

RE: Color

My 05 E500 was Silver/Ash which is classic Mercedes combo, and Silver was very easy to maintain. Besides complementing the Silver, the ash interior helped keep things a bit cooler in the hot Summer months.

My 07 E550 is White/Cashmere, I had to adjust to it for a few days when i bought it, but I am liking it more all the time, and it is very well suited to North Carolina Summer heat.

My Jeep is Black, and while it looks great when clean, it ends up getting washed much more often as the black shows dirt big time.

If I lived in Florida and were ordering an 08 550, it would be either be Silver/Black-Wheat, or White/Black-Cognac...your climate is warm and those are practical and good looking combos.

Good luck and let us know what you go with.

No question standard black looks the richest and most regal, but only for a few minutes after washing. I liked the flint grey, but it shows dirt and dust almost the same as black.

I went with pewter. I little darker than silver. I little different than everyone else. Doesn't show dirt.

I want a black carpet/dash for durability, so I always get black. The 08 has a black with cognac leather seat option which is gorgeous. Someone posted a picture of that combo.

I want Bluetec for my next E and I noticed the black/cognac option doesn't appear for the E320. That sucks.

I love the look of my black E, but man the car does not even dry before it gets dirt on it. I wash it once a week and it is filthy by the 3rd to 4th day w/o rain. I think next time I will go white, red or blue. White is significantly easier to keep clean than black. I'm not saying it is the easiest color, but it requires much less effort. I do love my tan interior, I love the two tone dash and the bright airy feeling. I'm not a big fan of the new interior with the black dash...

I saw a E350 today driving down the highway. It was an '08 in arctic white with Panaorama sunroof. Sweet. The car looked great. It had the Cashmere interior. What do you all think of Black/sahara beige interior with the arctic white exterior? Would that be a nice combo?

The AMG package, plus Pano roof in arctic white really made the car into a "sports sedan." sweet.

Agreed, Flint grey is a very classy colour. Looks really good in sunlight.
This colour with black interior and pano roof is stunning.
Another benefit, it's not a common E Class colour, like silver, black and pewter.
