The 4-Matic gas guzzler tax is $1700 because it gets lower MPG than the RWD version. The tax on my 2007 E550 was $1300.

mercedes 2011 CLS550 with AMG package
If I lived anywhere BUT south florida I would get the E550 with the 321 AMG package. I love cars, I have a 360 ferrari and spend a lot of time drivng karts. Suspension was a big issue for me. BUT AGAIN, for the $10k difference to get on and off the ramps on the interstate so I could feel the road, it was not worth the difference in cost. IMO If you want a driving car. Get a BMW or a Porsche. Mercedes are NOT really a good handling car (especially if you plan on making a turn at a high speed) !!!

Regarding the P2 package. I had xenon lights on my E500 sport and have them on my Ferrari and my wives X5. I thought that it would be an issue. But for an additional $2k, I could live without them.

Regarding the keyless go. I would rather have the key in the car than in my pocket. If I carried a purse, It would be a HAVE TO HAVE. BUT we do have a couple of small kids, 3 years old and a 18 month old. So I would rather not have the option of having someone start the car. My wives purse could be in the car, and who knows what could happen. Just me being over conservative !!!

Let us know you outcome.

The car won't start until the person in the driver's seat steps on the brake pedal.

EXACTLY, you just need to be tall enough to put your foot on the brake. NOT a licensed driver. Next time see if your 3 year old could stand adjacent to the steering wheel and hit the brake. NOT IMPOSSIBLE, not likely, BUT not impossible. IMO

I just did not want to carry the keys in my pocket. If it was a card that Icould keep in my wallet, than I would have considered it. But than I have my home and office key in my pocket. It is just umcomfortable to me.

I guess letting the kids play in the Mercedes keeps them away from the Ferrari.

RobertM, this is a joke, of course.

That is funny, No horse play around or in the cars OR in the garage unless all the toys are out of the garage.

Go figure??

These cars drop like rocks. What do you think of a slightly used E63 with all the options for $75,000? This seems like a better buy than an E550 for $69,000.

Honestly, I have a thing about buying used cars. Kind of like buying used clothing. So I just don't do it. I also keep my cars for 4 years+, so buying new works out. But lets just say theoretically the E63 was $75k I'd go for that over the E550.

The E63 is an amazing car. No doubt about it.
