Can someone, anyone, tell me a dealer who says there is no GGT on the 08 E550W?

Fwiw, one of my friends works at Head Office for Canada in Toronto and he was telling me that all '08 550's get taxed GG more than '07's.

Due to recalculation of the EPA standards, I heard the same thing for 2008, but now 2-3 people have told me they didnt have to pay GGT. So I definitely want to get to the bottom of this as my 08 E550 will be here before the end of the month.

Ok, confirmed with my dealer as well. 2008 E550W does not have Gas Guzzler. He had told me there was but there isn't. Funny thing is in another thread a bunch of 08 E550 owners said they paid GGT .. which is strange.

Strange but true

Yes, it is quite confusing as the logic is almost hard to belive but it is true. The history goes something like this. MY06 E500 no GGT, MY07 E550 $1300 GGT and MY08 E550 no GGT. If your dealer charges GGT on a MY08 E550W they are wrong in doing so. Good luck on your car. Great choice!!

As mercedes said a long time ago DOHC vs SOHC didnt matter on fuel... This was in respons a few years back. Same deal with 3 vales vs 4 per cyc they said that didnt matter either.. I would suspect the only reason for the change is a higher reving motor to better suit the 7 speed transmission.

500 miles now, 90% highway - averaging mid 24's/gal (calculated at the pump too).

Now, this all may change when I pass 1000 miles and feel more comfortable unleashing hell...
