Aux Input

Hey Guys,

In the Audio menu I have an "Aux" input. When i select it no sound comes from anywhere. Is there an audio input in the car? Like a 3.5" jack for a mp3 player?

I have an IPOD interface in Aux; the IPOD connector is then located in the glove box where I have my IPOD connected.

You bet, there should be one

located in the glove box. Mine's located inside the glove compartment, the top of the box casing, centered, almost hard to find.

Good luck.

Hey, George. I'm originally from just down Cowpath Rd. in Souderton; glad to see Hatfield is going upscale!

Wait a minute folks....are you telling me that it's possible that I might have an AUX-in somewhere in my glove box? This would be a tremendous discovery!!! I don't have an AUX button on the head unit, so I'm afraid I know the answer.

AUX jack appeared on 2004 models. Unfortunately, the 2003 cars came without it. However, there is a way to add it if you have a COMAND unit (the one without the tape deck)

Hope this helps.

If you upgrade to a COMAND (either US or Euro version) you could add AUX cable/jack. It's not that complicated.

Threading the AUX cable, though, is a textbook PITA.

Good to know...what's the cost of a COMMAND? what other advantages are there to upgrading? The AUX is enough, but I'm just curious...

When you upgrade to a COMAND unit you will lose your antiquated cassette player. This is the only downside.

Here are the positives:

1. a large screen and a much better interface
2. With a Euro COMAND -- ability to play DVD Movies, MP3s, and watch TV (by adding a TV tuner into the system).
3. With US COMAND -- ability to play MP3s and add SAT radio broadcasts
4. AUX input on all COMAND units (doesn't matter if it's US or Euro Version)
5. Better experience with your Navigation system (if you have one installed).

You should be able to find a US COMAND for about $500-$600. Euro COMAND sell for higher prices due to added capabilities.

Hope this helps.

Its an Audio (only) input. You can connect the audio output (Headphone Output or non adjustable volume output) from any source to it, press the soft key marked AUX, & the sound will now be amplified & delivered thru the cars speaker/amp system, with volume adjustability, just like you would adjust the volume of the radio.

It is not an equivalent to the Ipod interface; the Ipod interface permits navigating the Ipod menu's through your steering wheel controls and lets you see your selections on the dash.
