Keep us other soon to be 550 owners posted on your break-in period and any other pearls of wisdom from your experiences. Can't wait till mine gets here end of Oct.
The build quality is great. Drives and shifts very smoothly. Amazing to drive at 75mph and see only 1500 RPM.
I've already had it produce an error code, my left marker bulb is out. Nothing major, I'm not bothered by it really. It'll get fixed w/o appointment or cost except a few minutes of my time.
Aside from that, I love it.
The right pull thats there on all MB cars will need to be fixed however. If I fall asleep, I want to go straight head not into the right wall

Glad to hear you like it. Break-ins are the longest 1,000 miles especially when you need to vary the speed. I live 100 miles from my dealer so I hope to spend a day with the car in Denver before taking it home to the mountains to rule out issues such as what you have had. I have heard of the steering/tracking issue before. You would think they would have that figured out preventing the customer having to re-visit the dealer.
Just got finished doing some testing with my 07 e550. I used a Escort Passport gtimer GT2
Had the base Eurocharged tune done, K&N filters.
0-60 time was 4.40 seconds, and the quarter mile time was 12.90 at 109MPH
This was with straight pump gas (91 octane, no ethanol)
Now my plan is to put some torco race fuel additive in to bring the octane rating up to 93 without using ethanol ( the tune is setup for 93) and do some more runs after I put a few miles on the car.
I cant see the gains being huge, but a couple extra horse and a few more degrees of timing, and the benz should be even faster.
Note - I have the 4matic version of the car.
All i can say is I am seriously impressed with the tune. Car stock supposedly was capable of 4.7 to 5.2 in the 0-60 range according to a few different sources.
Well worth the money for the tune. Mention the forums to the eurocharged guys and you get a discount as well. They knocked a hundred bucks off the price of my tune for mentioning I was a forum member.
Woah woah woah there, pics/videos or it didn't happen.. I'd be seriously impressed if there was really a 4.4 0-60!
I will take some pics of the gt2 timer screen of my runs in the car and once the car gets used to the race fuel additive do another run and post the gains (if any).
I can't be more happy with the car at all. Exceeds my expectations. Smokes my cousins 350z all day long. Puts a smile on my face.

I did some more runs. The race fuel additive seems to have helped. My previous 4.40 Zero to 60 time was with just 91 octane although the ecu is tuned for 93.
I filled the the tank and added the race fuel additive, effectively bringing the octane up to 94.
With a completely full tank of gas I was able to run a 4.43 Zero to 60mph time AND 12.7 quarter mile.
Thanks all to the guys at Eurocharged and their tuning. Well worth the money. This car is now in the same range as the new Bi-turbo E550's. Remember my ride is an 07 E550 4-matic N/A non turbo car with a 5 speed automatic.
Note also Eurocharged also set the speed limiter Vmax to 300km/h although I never plan on taking up to any speeds close to that. Sure beats the 130mph stock speed though.

Reason: added more info
This is some stuff i like to see. Great return investment for something as simple as a tune... And you know your car will start everyday. I'm getting one!
Visit a real 1/4 track to support your times - would be curious to see how close the G-Timer really is. Trapping 112 mph is really moving N/A
I plan on going to a test and tune day sometime soon when the local track opens up for the season. On a prepped surface I would imagine the car would hook up and just launch better with the 4 matic. I have done 13 runs so far with the g-tuner, however about 10 of them I have had issues with traction control kicking in. I am hoping the 100 foot of prepped track will resolve that issue.
The posted run was one of the ONLY runs where the traction control light did not flash like a Christmas light.
Will post more results after a visit to the track at some point I hope.
It's been awhile, anyone have any updates on their E550s?
Went to state capital dragway and ran my bone stock 2007 e550 this past Sunday in Baton Rouge La and didn’t disappoint Ran a 13.12 @. 106.2 mph 1.97 60 ft.I’m a 275lb guy.I know we have a little more in it .
MY2007 E550 W211 FACTORY SPORT AVANTGARDE, COLUMBITE BLACK, BEIGE LEATHER..
G'Day, Everyone,
I own the above vehicle in the state of Tasmania, Australia. My car has only done 105,000 km and is in showroom condition, in storage but started and run every week.
The car has 3 options for performance, there is standard, sport and, what I call crazy. It also has flappy paddles on the steering wheel.
I am now the wrong side of 65 years old and have owned quite a few Mercs (that's what we call them down here) and before buying this car
the fastest one was a 500SEL, which went like a shower of ****, but I can honestly say my E550 is the quickest car I have ever driven.
Recently some snoozer contacted me asking to buy it, I told him all about the car and he said my E550 was a fake.
So here are a couple of things I have researched, all the dash dials have an all-white background, the foot pedals are all metal and have rubber dots on them.
Also, I read that the sport has special "spoked" mag wheels, but am unsure if that is correct.
Hi, There,
I think the wheels were optional, but all the "Sport" models had these, as is the white dash and spotted foot pedals, but not certain.
Mine in standard mode will do 0-100 kph in well under 5 seconds, it is the quickest car I have ever driven.
Did I mention, mine has the 7 speed flappy paddle gearbox. I also only use 98 fuel.
Hello, My Friends,
I have one of these vehicles, it is honestly the most powerful car I have owned, my Drivers License is 50+ years old.
A lot of people say these cars are "Gas Guglers", however mine is extremely light on fuel, providing you can resist putting the foot down.
I also have an 02 S430, that is also very light on fuel, but more than the E550 uses.
Mine has done 106,000 km and is the Sport Model with all the updates, from what I have read my car is a rare model, in Australia anyway.
I have attached some photos for you, I hope you don't mind my intrusion within your conversation.
A few weeks ago I had the right hand low beam light stop working, so I checked everything I could, without success, so I thought it had to be the ballast, it was.
I purchased all new waterproof aftermarket parts, from the harness to and including the Xenon Globes, for AU$152.00, then another AU$280 to fit
all this gear, the reason this cost so much was you need to remove the front bumper and headlights to get it all to work. It is still a hell of a lot less than what the
local MB Dearler wanted, the globes alone were AU$500 each. I bought both sides for two reasons, if the right side had problems, it would not be long until
the otherside would give problems, and if they are going to remove parts, why do it twice ?. An ounce of care beats a pound of cure any day.
Anybody have any 0-60 and 1/4 mile times from a stock E500?
Totally stock 2005 E500, rear wheel drive, 7 speed trans, 3715lbs on a scale with 1/4 tank of gas. I personally did 13.9 @ 105mph in ¼mi.
Stock rear tire size: General Gmax AS-05. I think they hook better in dry than Continental Extreme Contact DWS06. They also do better in snow and have shorter stopping distance than Continental. Plus, faster lap time and better acceleration. Continental just costs more.
3885 lbs??? How'd they get the E to shed all that weight compared to the W211?!
Those numbers are frigg'n awesome -- betters the W210 E55! (and about where my car is with the lighter weight).
Those numbers are not as good as the actual car is. I have E500 and E550. Both are same transmission. Both rear wheel drive. E500 on according to magazines weighs 3815lbs. Mine weighed on scale 3715lbs. With ESP off and holding brake and gas at around 2900-3000rpm before launch. Did 13.99 @105mph in 1/4mi at Cecil dragstrip in MD.
My E550 leaves my E500 in the dust by about 15 cars length in a half mile roll race. Mercedes is either lying about HP, weight or both. Because it is faster than Mercedes claims. It is as fast from 15mph-110mph as C8 Corvette. I am patiently waiting to take mine to the drag strip to see what it does.
