Picked it up Wednesday
Was able to get the wood & leather steering wheel which after our order was accepted the next up were placed as unavailable. Really like the look of the black birds eye maple with the ash. Also I was surprised how nice the stainless console looked with the ash.
Love the sounds from the new HK sound system and the idea of having the cd changer now internal and offered with a single additional disc and tape too. We ordered the drive dynamic seats due to ruptured discs in my back, thinking that they would offer some support features, now I feel that they are a waste of $$$ my multi contour seats in the 01 CLK 430 cab that I drive have better support, and the standard seats now offered in the new E class are definately more supportive. The dealer here indicated that so far our car was the only one to arrive with that option
A surprise to us was that they included the launch fold down seat package in our car $100. it appeared as the first option on the invoice so I immediately spotted it. At first I thought
then after trying them out it seems like one of the best features. Sure glad that they thought of it for us.Ordered the v60 Motorolla integrated phone without voice recognition because was told at the time that the vr was not available, I have the Timeport with voice rec. in my CLK and it is not nearly the quality as the v60. My wife really likes the clarity and this option.
Delivery day I opted to not purchase the MB extended warranty covering 3 additional years or up to 100k miles because they usually send a letter prior to your first year being up offering it. Plus MB used to offer 4 additional years or 100k for the same $2,300. so I was a little annoyed. They did however get me again for the $695. LoJack I don't understand whats up with that. Whats the commission paid to the finance manager who sells it??? Then when activating the Teleaid the dealer encouraged us not to take advantage of the reduced second year rate offered at the time of activation???
Well I will try and post pictures if and when my wife leaves it here long enough. Now I am going to try and figure out how you set the clock in the car.
Great car, definately improved over the previous model
LoJack is a small device a receiver that is brought to you after you purchase the car and hidden in a secret place on the car. You receive a card and id # for the receiver from the installer and if your car is ever stolen you contact the number on the card and they can trace the where abouts of your vehicle through the satelite receiver.
I bought one for the CLK after the business manager gave me the pitch of having one on each of his collectable cars and sure enough determined in what I was thinkinng not to get one this time I did. I am pretty sure that I will maybe break down through the first year and buy the extended MB warranty although I want to be sure that we like the car first.

Yes, it is aftermarket, but it's the only stolen vehicle recovery system operated by the Police. (No, not the one Sting used to be in.)
An appointment was not available when my car arrived, so I took it and a LoJack installer came to my office and installed it there. According to the guy who installed mine, you don't want to leave any paperwork in the car or in any other way indicate you have it. He stated that a thief will begin tearing the car apart looking for it if he knows LoJack is installed.
They give you a little card with your vehicle identification number on it. If your car is stolen, you call the police in the city you are in at the time and give them the number. They can immediately begin tracking it at that time. It works in places where Tele-Aide does not.
Interesting that according to the Lojack site there is not a dealer within a 100 radius of Seattle. Isn't this a national product?
Thanks
