Parktronic???

Like to hear from people who have Parktronic or have added the mod...Is it worth it to add Parktronic aftermarket?

I love this feature. Specially the front sensor is super convenient when you have small garage like me I regret that I didn't order my W211 with this option since it was much more expensive to retrofit it. However, it was money well spent.

You could contact either Sunil or Steve for this install. I hope this helps.

The feature is great BUT it may be prohibitively (depending on your budget) expensive to retrofit. I've got a quote from SteveNL a while ago and it ranged from $2800 to $3200.

Yes, it's more to retrofit. However, it's a expensive option even you order it from the MB. Currently, it's $1,120 for '08 model.

The installation for the retrofit took one full day by Sunil. He took almost entire car apart for this. After watching he worked on my car, I thought that it's such a bargain. You also get bunch of tweaks on your software which I found quite helpful.

its the best thing that ever happened to me... no more my girlfriend yelling at me "you're too close, you're gonna hit the car..." i let the yellow dots do the work for me now.

as far as retrofit goes, it is pricey to get done. (then again i've already dropped over $2k into my euro command / nav / tv tuner project).

bottom line is if you live / work in the city, go ahead and do it. you wont regret it. if you seldom parallel park, and only want the feature to show friends and make the car cooler (which there's nothing wrong with ), remember with that kind of $$$ you can buy yourself a hell of a nice set of rims and then some...

just my $.02

I use it to parallel park, but it's a sorry excuse for a back up camera like my last two cars had. I'm sure the W212 will have a backup camera option. The new S-Class does and I think the C, too.

I don't think it's worth retrofitting unless you do a lot of parallel parking and plan on keeping the car for a long time.

Having lived in London UK, one learns to parallel park very quick; it is needed almost everywhere including outside your own house; never used anything and never (almost) hit anything unless the gap is so very tight for your vehicle. Having said that, it is a useful feature many would benefit from; I did not want it and never ordered it with my vehicle.
