Tinting problem rear windscreen
Can someone answer this for me.
I got a pro. Install tint on the back glass (glass with defogger).
Now at night time the back glass is not clear.. If there is a car coming behind me.. I see the headlight scattered (because of the defogger element lines I guess??)
Does this mean the film is not installed correctly?

You did mentioned you have problem seeing clear "at night time", but it could be resulted from your astigmatism?
Do you have any friend who has similar degree of tinted window in their car? Ride w/ them at night and see if you experiences similar problem.

It is hard to determine if it was installed properly or not from your description.
You did mentioned you have problem seeing clear "at night time", but it could be resulted from your astigmatism?

It was clear the day before I got the tint installed.
Even, my friend felt the same problem, when he was driving my car couple of days after I had got the tint installed. (And my eyes are perfect 20/20)
I wanted to know if there is some special technique in installing tint on the back glass for MB.
Does anyone have had a similar problem where the light seems to scatter/ Blind the rear windscreen at night when looking from the Automatically dimmed rear view mirror inside the car?

Optically speaking, there is now an induced scattered refraction of the light travelling thru the glass/film combination. (unclear image, halos/starbursts around lights/smearing of images) I can't believe others would tolerate this loss of clarity and people would continue to have rear windows tinted. Its probably a bad film or installation. Either way, the installer's problem, right?

Any separation between the glass and the film will cause things to look blurry, so that's what you're seeing. My tint guy typically takes a high grit sandpaper to the heating elements to make the tint film adhere to them better and lay a bit flatter. I've never paid much attention to the exact paper he uses or the technique, so that's about all I know. I'm sure it's better than not doing anything prior to applying the film, but after 3-4 years, the tint will still start to separate and need to be redone. There isn't any fool proof work-around, at least not that I know of.

The Film that I had got installed is some ultra high performance film; and the person who installed says that - Ultra high performance films are thicker and are not sticking well around the defogger element lines.
He will be installing a slightly thinner film instead. Lets see if that works.
Let me know if any of you have suggestions for me.
