Rough ride in 2005 E320 Sport

The ride with the 18" wheels is harsher than I thought it would be. I think I should have driven it more before buying but all the options sold me. Would changing to 16" wheels soften the ride or is the suspension much stiffer than a standard E320? What would I need to do to get a softer more luxury type ride? Other than a different car. More like my 98 E320 was.

i dont think 16s will clear your brakes

if the ride is intolerable, u can always trade it in for a lexus or a caddy.. goodluck

Thanks. I'll check a 16" rim on it tomorrow.

18 inch rims were not available on the 2005 unless you got the AMG sport package. Do you have the AMG sport pkg or the normal sport pkg? If you have the regular sport pkg that means your car should have airmatic. If airmatic is riding hard check with the dealer.

Also check your tire pressure.

Check your tire pressure.. Sounds like your tires are running a high PSI.. Try a 39 PSI back and 32 PSI front (Hit 34psi front for better gas milage but slight handling feedback loss).. You will be surprised how you can vary the ride and handling of the car by changing the tires by 4-5 PSI. Most wheel shops install your rims and jack your pressure up to 40-45 all around to meet tires specs and dont bother to look what the car manufacture recommends.

Thanks. The fronts are recommended at 29 psi, I put 30 in. The rears are set a 36 psi per the label on the car. I'll try those settings and see what happens.
