Audio jack in glove box?

Just bought a 2005 E320 Sport and there is what looks to be an audio jack like you'd use for Walkman headphones in the upper portion of the glove box. Anyone know what it's for?

Ipod maybe?

Not sure if you can use command or wheel controls, other than volume

The aux input lets you input ANY audio source to it.

You cannot control the device except for volume.

You can have an iPod integration kit installed; you lose the aux input but can fully control the iPod from the steering wheel. I've been told it will run around $500 with labor and parts.

Go for the IPOD kit, got a 6 CD changer and extended video ect ect but go for the IPOD kit, I rarely use my CD changer since having 5000 songs on the IPOD all controlled from the steering wheel.

It was $420 when ordered with the car; I was told the same installation later would cost much more, around $800; $500 installed seems to be a good price.

It could be because I was offered invoice price on the iPod kit at the time.

Ultimately, with SIRIUS, 6 CD MP3 capable changer, regular radio .. I decided I have more than enough music capability.

I ordered the Ipod Kit with the car, despite not having an Ipod, however bought an Ipod when I took delivery of the car. I now use it as part of my choice of entertainment during my 3 1/2 daily commute (to the office and back) Ipod, Sirius, MP3, 6CD and the radio for local radio; only thing missing is the DVD which I would not be able to watch while driving anyway.

I recommend skipping the ipod kit.. I find it faster to just run a 1/8th cable out of the glovebox to and rest your ipod in your center console, you can change songs and find them faster than using the steering wheel, also you can use other things if you keep it just with the stock AUX jack. After you install the ipod kit thats all you can use...
