My E500 not shipped....
Just received a call from my dealer advising that my car was "on the water as of today and the ETA was 11/15/02".
This is a bummer because they had told me that it was on the water back on the 17th and to expect it around the 1st week of November.
I hope that this is just more of the strange and false information that everyone seems get from MBz and the dealers.
I am sure glad that I decided to go the Las Vegas for a few days to help pass the time. I may have a lot more time than I wanted.

I received a called from a good friend of mine which is the owner of the MB dealer in Panama and he told me that his brother was in europe and there seems to be a big back log on ships coming from europe due to bad weather.

That may be the problem. I do know that it was built and ready for shipment way back on October 14th.
Wouldn't be so disappointed if they hadn't confirmed that it was on a ship and on its way on October 17th. From the sound of it it just left now.

I was thinking about you when the guy called. I sure hope that you can confirm that it is actually in Baltimore.
You remember they told me that mine was on the water and that they told you about the same time that yours had "missed the boat". Turns out we both got bad info....good in your case and disappointing in mine.
Of course, they could call at the end of the week and ask why I havn't picked it up yet.

I then was told that it had been shipped on or about the 17th.
Today, Oct 28th, I was told that it was just shipped today and had a scheduled ETA of November 15th.
Worse yet I think the ETA date is the port in Los Angeles. I am in Seattle and have no idea how long to get off the ship, on to a truck and up the Pacific Coast (about 1500 miles I think).
I guess that the good news is that I won't hear any ticking until then.

I'm sorry to hear that man, my car was built in the 2nd decade of august (ie by the 20th of august) but wasn't shipped until october and arrived at the dock in october 24.. so it happens sometimes... some people who ordered their car afterme got theirs and I'm still waiting for mine but at least its in the country now

WoW... August to October to ship. I guess neither rayscar or me have much to complain about.
Did you ever get an explanation as to why that would happen? Was the car actually built in August?
How do you know that the car is actually in country? Is that the US or Austrailia?

I see that rayscar has just received word that his E-500 is in and that he can pick it on Thursday.
Maybe I will get a call that mine is in as scheduled and that all the other BS was just that.

Yes, my car is not shipped to the states CrazyCars - its shipped closer than the states even. They say it has been produced in the 2nd decade of august.. when I get it i'll know from the door wether they really built it in that date or not from the door sticker.. btw, the dealer called and said the sticker price after customs is 51k. they say it was late because of all the AMG stuff... we'll see.. i'll keep you posted.

I hope crazy4cars keeps a eye on my car (if it is on a ship) when it passes through the Panama Canal.
Of course, as long as this is taking it may be comming around the horn instead :p
