Reverse Tilt-Down Mirror Function Enabled!
Took delivery of my 08 E550 on Sept 14th. Within 72 hours one of my front marker bulbs failed, 2 weeks later the other one failed. Go figure.
Anyway, so I took it in to get that fixed.
While I was there my salesman (who also took delivery of an E350 the same day as me) asked me how to get the reverse tilt-down mirror function to work and that he had followed all the steps and it didn't work.
Of course as most of you might know from reading this forum, its disabled in the car's computer.
Anyway, after my service, the tech rolled the computer upto my car in the parking lot, hooked it up and re-enabled it .. free of charge.
Now to get them to lower my car via Airmatic and the SDS computer free of charge.
So for those of you w/ 07-08's that don't have that feature, its a < 5 min procedure.

You are correct sir! Now if only dealership cooperation was that easy for those who have been told it cannot be done.

Hrm, I might ask my salesman who assisted with getting the tech to do this to give me a xerox copy of the paperwork which has the exact item which needs to be enabled.
You should work hard to get it done because it is MENTIONED in the manual. So either it works, or they make it work.
I'll see if I can get a print out of what needs to be turned on and scan it in so the rest of you can take it to your dealer, speak to a tech and get it done.

thank you
That's childs play. If you don't like the first answer, get a second opinion. Also, the younger guys may be more in tune on how to do this, and a little monetary contribution doesn't hurt.

I too was told the reverse tilt down function was "not avaliable" on my '07 550 4MATIC after specifically requesting that it be "enabled" through the computer. I was also told that my 4Matic could not be lowered using the computer. I guess I'm not surprised as the tech listed my car as an E55 on the service invoice. If anyone could post the necessary info to give the techs to accomplish these two tasks it would be appreciated.

... and you seen the side of their rigs? They've run into tons of ****.
If you can go the entire life of your car w/o backing it into the curb even once, you're a better driver than me.
I like the feature versus replacing an expensive wheel because I dented it, etc.
I've never had this feature on my previous cars and 99.9% of the time I don't run into the curb, or anything else, but it happens at least around here in SoCal where there are lots strange streets and unpainted curbs, etc., in downtown LA, etc.
