Puting phone in 2005?
Puting phone in 2005?
I've been reading a lot on installing phones but I'm a bit confused. I have an early 2005 E320. The car is pre-wired for a phone but it does not have the cradle. All the electronics are present in the trunk.
What do I need to do to get me going with a phone? What are some of the options?

I think, if you do not have the cradle then the "puck with tail" is what you should look for. If you search for this on the forum, I am sure someone has more details on installing. The puck would reside in the top part of the center storage console between the two front seats - are there any wires in there? For me I had the cradle already and just needed to buy the puck (no tail). Good luck!

Looking at e-Bay I found I can get the original MBZ cradle and phone for under $200. I have the wiring so it should be a plug-n-play affair. It seems I could always buy a Bluetooth puck to go into the cradle at a later date if I needed to.

The car is prewired for the phone but are you Sure that the PSE is in the car installed? as its located under a plastic panel in the trunk
If Not then you will need the phone PSE and cradle..I would also purchase the Blue tooth puc...Voice control (hands Free) is another great option to add also.

Thanks, great info. After reading the tutorial I'm assuming that just because I have the wiring in the center console and all the parts in the trunk the system may not be hooked up. Is that correct?
If you have a connector for a cradle in your console, you may be good to go.
If you just have a connector for that connector, you're not.
You can see this clearly in the instructions.
