Before buying new E 2003

Lets all post what discounts we are able to get and from where. This certainly will help all those who are sure to buy a new E in the near future. From the data on the forum it seems that Fremont based Claridge motors (Bill is the name of the internet manager) offers $2100 off MSRP on E 500 and at least $1250 on E 320 from all the posts. Anyone who finds more or similar experience on the offered discount post here and see if it benefits us? (This will be some teamwork if this serves the praactical purpose)

Milwaukee:

Concours $1,000 off on either model

International Autos also offered me $1,000 off, but tried to screw me on my trade...so I doubt they'd give that discount to anyone lackin a trade-in (so they could rip u off too ).

I'm working with Tommy Larkins at Claridge. Also, was offered $500 off from Mercedes of Austin, TX, but I've decided to buy from Claridge from out-of-state. BTW, thanks to E4Fun for the recommending "courtesy receiving". Tommy is trying to setup a "courtesy receiving" for us near Austin, so I won't even have to have the car shipped from CA to TX. It would come to a nearby dealer straight from the factory.

Sacramento dealer offers $1250 off MSRP on E 320. All these is slowly changing into a trend towards increaasing discount. A few weeks ago they said MSRP only. Then became $500 off MSRP. Now we have come to this.

Keep posting names of dealership we find.

Read the autospies article that otto posted in the other thread. It clearly says that CA dealers are quickly approaching $2500 off MSRP.

Newbie question. What does it say for a new car when dealers are willing to take some money off the msrp?

I think it says that MB's are expensive and the economy is down and dealers have a lot of profit in the car, so they have room to work with. Simple as that.

Yes, the car speaks for itself and M-B is in the driver's seat when it comes to selling it these days.

I believe that big sales numbers in CA allow to reduce price of the car. I have feeling that MB is the most popular car in SFBA. I have feeling that I can see even more Benz' than Accords', and what is more interesting that S class becomes more popular, and I can see equal numbers of E and S in parking lot at my office.

Smile Dealerships have started calling

2 Northern California dealerships and 1 Southern CA dealership has called me more than once once I contacted the internet dept. with my desire to purchase E 320 at a good price (definitely less than MSRP - I mentioned clearly) Did not happen 2 weeks ago. Just in last 2 days 4th response. One thing is common they are ready to order 'YOUR' car as they do not have many to sell you from the lot.

Discounts on E320 in NJ

I just bought an E320 at Morristown MB for $1500 off MSRP. Most other dealers in North-Central NJ area (Bridgewater, Princeton, Freehold, Little Silver, etc..) were offering $1000-$1300 off MSRP. I was only enquiring aboout cars on their lots - not special orders.

Did you "just" buy it now?

Congratulations.....Tell us what you ordered. Was it a inventory car or did you do a factory order?

Glad to hear your order is in anyway.

I got $1,000 off from MSRP. I had a trade-in that I had shopped and checked out pretty well.

Contrary to the normal with a discounted price: I also got a better trade-in price than I could have received anywhere else so I guess that also figures into the discount.

Mine was a factory order...obviously I still do not have it.

Mine will be an ordered car. In fact, it is really "special ordered", because due to my religious beliefs, we try not to use animal products (i.e. leather). They are going to build me a special E500 with MB Tex interior instead of leather.

What exactly is that? Did they charge extra for that change?

It is the "fake" leather product that is the base in the E320. The seating area will still be leather, but at least, for us, it is a minimal amount of leather compared to the whole car. Actually we have seen it and you can't tell the difference, IMO. Currently they are saying there will be a special order charge (they don't know how much until the order is placed at the factory, hopefully done on Monday). However, once I get the exact number of the charge, I am going to take it up with the GM of MBUSA because the leather on an E320 is $1440, which means MBTex is $1440 cheaper than leather and so that should offset any special order charges.
