Somehow I doubt that anyone would touch that job.

Thanks for the compliment.

As for why I don't think anyone would retrofit a pano roof onto a car with a standard roof is because it would be an engineering nightmare.

A pano roof is actually 2 sunroofs. One of which moves and the other is stationary. The front roof actually pops up and slides back above the 2nd fixed sunroof. Whereas your car the roof drops down and slides between the headliner and roof. See where I'm going with this? The only other option would be a complete custom job to give you a Pano-like roof. I think the costs associated with such a job would be so great that you could sell your car and buy a car with a Pano roof for cheaper. Not to mention the mechanics involved in getting the power sunshade.

Why not just trade yours in for one with a pano roof?

I can't imagine them being able to convert a standard roof to a pano. The pano is really complicated!

I watched the MB factory robots install the pano roof during a factory tour in Sept. It was fascinating... the entire glass roof unit is pickup up and placed the down on the roof rails so theoretically, the pano roof could be retro-fitted to your car after removing your roof! Presumably, the wiring harness would connect to existing wiring. Since the roof option is 1K+ it would be interesting to see what MB would charge for the part!

Let us know if you pursue this.
