messed up my factory hids while trying to install aftermarket. made a big mistake hlp

hey guys, i posted a thread a deew weeks back asking what kind of bulb i needed for my2008 e350 p2 with bixenon lights.

i installed hids in my foglights and wanted to replace my factory bulbs to make the colors match.

i was informed that our cars come with d2s bulbs. thus i purchased a set to match my fogs.

when i took out the original bulb it seemed to be instaled in a square shaped socket. i tried to pry out the bulb and ended up cracking it.

i later realised the bulb is sealed on to the socket making it a d1s bulb not a ds2.

is it possible to install an d2s bulb? or do i need to get d1s only>? pleas help

The bulb in our car is a D1S (the igniter is built-in to the bulb). You should have known this because it specifies in your Owners Manual. Well you've learned the hard way, the bulb will not pry out off the igniter. Whoever told you that a D2S HID bulb can be fitted to our car is wrong. All you need to do now is buy a D1S HID bulb to replace it the one you broke.

I put Hoen Xenonmatch Bulbs in my foglights. They match pretty good to my stock Xenons.

Hmmm, I believe that will do it for you. I didn't realize there is a gadget that you can stick a D2S bulb to an igniter that is being sold separately. Let us know how it work out.
