Locking Door Knobs

I have just got myself some AMG brushed stainless steel locking door knobs. I know how to remove the door panels, but does anyone know how to remove the original round plastic door knobs. I can’t seem to get them off and I don’t want to use brute force yet!! I am just wondering if there is a neat trick to it.

Thanks in advance.

They are threaded on. Clockwise is tighten, counter-clockwise is loosen... they shouldn't be that tight.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give it a try. If they are threaded on, then I might not even need to take off the door panels, right?

Uh yeah, you definitely don't need to take the door panels off. Just unscrew the old pins from the top. Piece of cake.

Thanks for the info. I finally got them installed. The initial couple of turns were very tight and I needed a pliers. Afterwards it’s just very easy.

Hey Pat, those are awesome!!! Where did you get them? Are those (or similar silver, or brushed metal) knobs available?

check out www.formymercedes.com - I've got the aluminum ones, also available chrome. No AMG on them, then again that's not what I wanted.

Those knobs (brushed stainless steel) are from AMG and I special ordered them through my dealer. If you go to AMG's website, you can find them listed in the E-Class price list under Performance Studio.

You must really like them if the price on that list is correct E41.65 EACH...

I think I will nab the set of four off formymercedes.com for $30.
