New to the Board - Just Picked up an E350

Hello,

I just leased an E350 Sport. Pana roof, Luxary Group 1.

Anyhow, helluva nice car. My old daily driver was a 2005 325i. This car is light years ahead of the BMW!

Just wanted to say hi.

Also, is there a fairly low cost source for the Bluetooth module any of you guys know about?

Thanks

Tom

No pictures yet. It is the Sienna Black color.

Being in the Detroit area, you do not see too many E350 Sport models so it is fairly unique (as opposed to Florida, Texas and California). I have had a German daily driver for 10 years now. Started with a VW Passat, BMW 325i and now this E350. The Passat was junk while the BMW was a great car.

I also have a 2007 Corvette and two restored classics (1970 Corvette, 1969 Olds 442) which are my real toys. Pictures can be seen at www.gearheaddroppings.com.

I am very active on the Corvette Forums and hope that this MBWord board offers the same type of great advice, etc.

I will try to get some pictures soon. However, being a black car with one day of ownership, it is already dirty!!!

Ahhhh... Back in the day I loved my '70 Olds Rallye 350. Great car but it would overheat if it idled a couple of minutes or got caught in a heavy traffic crawl. Only 3500 of them made. Mine was built on an F-85. Turns out they were the rarest.

Welcome and congratulations, you've made a great choice as I'm sure you've already figured that out for yourself.

I'm jealous of all you guys with 2007's and 2008's. You don't have to deal with all of the little creaks, rattles and unknown noises that come from the 2003-2006's

Enjoy it!

Yep, the old Oldsmobiles overheat. Mine has a 400 and it runs hot. The Rallye is a really cool car. There is one in my neighborhood. It really stands out with the painted bumpers.

It's hard to imagine the E having creaks and rattles. Mine is so quiet and smooth. I had an '06 Lexus IS350, and after the 2nd week of ownership, the dash rattled horribly. It was eventually fixed - after the shop removed and padded the whole dash.

I have very sensitive ears - and creaks and rattles bug the sh*t out of me. So with that, not hearing anything odd coming from inside of my E550, is music to my ears.

MB must have gotten it right starting with the '07.

RE: New E350

Tom,

Contrats on the new ride. It sounds like this is your first Benz; be careful as they will get into your blood; I'm on my second E in just over 2 years.

We have a really good group here. I used to spend time on CorvetteForum too, having owned several of them between 1991 and 2007; the crowd here is probably a tad more refined and less performance oriented.

Please do post some pics when you can, and enjoy the car.

From what I can gather, MB really hit a homerun with the 2007+ W211's. The fit and finish is far superior than the earlier models. Don't get me wrong, the early ones aren't horrible but like you I have very sensitive ears. Creaks and rattles drive me bonkers. I've sold cars because of it. But, I love my E500 so much that I excuse the few minor annoyances. For instance, since I have drive dynamic seats that are always in motion, they've developed a faint creak when the bolsters are inflating. This feature is no longer available on W211's. Also, the little trim piece around my dash cluster will creak when the chassis flexes. Now, I only hear them them when the radio is off but they exist nonetheless. My pop-out butterfly cup holder creaks sometimes when it's open. Your car doesn't even have this type of cup holder, thankfully.

Anyway, the new 550 is high on my list of eventual replacements for my E500. I'm also looking hard at the CLS or maybe an S600!

We'll see.

On the other hand, my 2006 R500 is about as perfect a people mover I've ever driven. Quiet as a mouse unless I stomp the go pedal and smoke some poor kid in his Civic. Hell, even my 2001 C240 doesn't have one rattle or creak. That thing is solid.
