was '03 E320 - now - '04 S4
I'm impressed with the E550. Feels faster than a W210 E55. For that matter it feels faster than my 6MT S4.

I ran an E550 in my 997 C2S. Even with the wheel hop he had no chance. When I read that C&D or R&T got a C2S to go 0-60 in 3.9 I though it was Now I'm thinking it might be true!

Yeah I agree. Regarding the E550 bragging - I think my big sedans are fast, too, until summer kicks around and I get back in my Vette. The reason I drive my V8 German cars around is for the sporty feel with my whole family in the car. And, because daily traffic is nightmarish and my left foot gets tired after 45 minutes of clutching to move 200m.

That being said, if I could start over I'd love to have a (used) C4S so I could drive it all year long through the snow, rocks and salt. I'm tired of having a $30-60k toy sit for 7 months out of the year.

I think my father would go for the Lexus, being it's a Toyota product but has anyone had any GS experience or switched from the GS to an E-class?
I was in the exact same situation about 2 years ago. We had a '04 E320 and had to decide between '06 E350 4Matic and New Lexus GS AWD. I really like the new GS. All of those gadgets. I fell in love with their 3rd generation voice activated nav. I did actually bring the Lexus home hoping my wife like it since it was her car. However, she did not like the GS at all. My wife thought that it is too cramped inside. I guess she felt that way because of the high window lines. Of course, she also said "it's not Mercedes!"

We ended up buying another E Class. As you all know, it was identical to previous E Class, but my wife was so happy with that decision and she is still happy with the car.

BTW, I think 911 is more of the control, not about the speed

2004 E500 4Matic
I has a 2001 Lexus GS300 and switched to a 2004 MB E500 4Matic. Lexus service and reliability is definitely better than MB. The service is more personal and the fit and finish is slightly better. The MB vehicles have more status compared to Lexus.

Yes typically the Lexus service is better...but with me the service with MB is quite better then Lexus' and the lexus service is pretty damn good

If you're looking for a reliable nice car = GS350 AWD but if you have to have the "prestige" and those who say its more fun to drive then sure get the E350 4-matic

I came within an inch of buying a 460. Liked its looks, liked its interior
and LOVED its electronics!

So why didn’t I? I drove it. It rode good. But handled “mushy.” And the
steering wheel is too big. This added to the mushy handling, compared
to the E-350 Sport with a smaller steering wheel and crispier handling.

When lease is up in 19 months, as I see it now, I’ll consider MB, Lexus
and the DTS replacement. The latest and greatest electronics will rule,
probably.

A little more Lexus info for your comparison ..

Anyone thinking about a 460 or 460L, since their inception, Lexus is having
a TERRIBLE problem with wind noise! They bring in special techs to replace
windows, window frames, insulation, outside mirrors, etc, etc, etc.

Some of their time consuming fixes reportedly work but many haven’t. Not
good for Lexus’ image but seems to be underreported. However - for more
info, just check a Lexus forum and you’ll hear about it plenty. Several have
sold or traded their 460’s because “the noise was driving them crazy!” And,
there is at least one report of Lexus taking it back and refunding all money
because they couldn’t fix the noise.

the new LS460L is cool, but I don't know if I wanna switch or not. MB is very irresistible and I've been very satisfied with it now.

My two posts (above) about Lexus stand.

BUT - I went to the “Big Auto Show” in Miami Beach yesterday and
“happened” to cruise by the Lexus display.

Hands Down, the Lexus INTERIOR is MUCH better looking and much
more plush than the 350. Complimenting the interior beauty, comes
from the great, and colorful, touch screen Nav which has a Back-up
camera, etc. (The Lexus Nav display is “beautiful” and adds a LOT.)
But, of course, that’s not the only Lexus interior betterment.

What a shame - that we can’t have a MB with Lexus electronics and
interiors. (Again, I admit; MB's handle better.) So, there ya go.

I went from an MB E-Class (transmission failure at 24,000 miles) to a Lexus LS430. Everything that was optional on the E-Class was STANDARD on the Lexus. It has been a wonderful car. I can't comment on the service because I've never had a problem with it. As someone mentioned before, it is probably more fair to compare the Lexus LS430/460 to the MB S-Class.

It doesn't matter what lexus to compare. I could say that LS, GS, and ES have very similar interior and features set. I'm glad to hear that people have positive experience with Lexus. All mine was just negative.
