2009 e350 Oil Change- Anyone have a DIY

I am looking for a thread as I am looking to do an oil change on me 2009 e350.. Everything I find is either old or for other models. Anyone have something updated? I am looking for the top side method.

Any suggestions for oil? OW-40?

Any suggestions for a top side extractor other than mightyvac?

Well the 2006-2009 is probably all the same as it's the same engine. I just use the Mann filter from Rockauto. There are many other filters that will also work.

For oil, you just want one that meets 229.5. Mobil 1 0w40 or Castrol 0w40 is fine. There are a few other 229.5 oils out there like 5w40 or 0w30, but 0w40 is a good catch all for pretty much all conditions.

I only change the oil about once a year so I don't bother with the top side extractor, plus it gives you a chance to look underneath. Found a split boot once, early before it got bad.

I´ve posted a YouTube tutorial on my 2006 (2007 model year) E 500:

Engine is similar to later models and also your 6-cylinder, but I used the underneith-method. As long as car manufacturers provide drain-plugs, I will make use of them

Filter: MANN HU 718/5 x is OE but half the price of the one you get from your MB-dealer.

I use 5w40 oil (229.5 spec) because that´s what always has been in there. Changing to a "thinner" oil (5w -> 0w) may cause leakage or higher oil-consumption especially on older engines.
If the car already ran on 0w30/40, you can stay with that of course.
