2008 E550 Headlamps

Sorry if this has been posted before, I couldn't get the search feature to work...

My understanding is that if I were to buy a 2008 E550 with P1, the car comes equiped with projector lights which are different than bi-xenons. The sales guy told me that the only difference between the two is that the bi-xenons are active with the steering wheel and that if I get the car with P1, the car will have the same lighting system but it won't be active. Is this true? I test drove a CLK with bi-xenons and an SL right before the E and while I know that the three cars are different, there was a different color of light from the CLK and the SL that the E didn't give off, even though the only difference was that the CLK and SL had "active" headlamps.

The guy at the dealership either doesn't know what he is talking about or is BSing me, right?

It's not just the lack of active lighting - the P1 does not come with Xenons at all, so you will notice the difference in the light itself compared to a P2.

That's what I thought. The E does come standard with projector lights though, right? They are different than the Halogen lights in the CLK and C class, but they are just projectors, right?

Yes they are projectors, which is why it's hard to differentiate from the Xenons when they're not on..

The P1 I think will have Halogen headlamps. They're niot bad --- until you have driven a car with Xenons, after which you will not think so much of halogen. You'll need P2 for Xenon.
