CD player does not show any title?

My car has the normal CD player and the 6 disk 6-changer/payer (CDC). When I pop in audio cds (legitimate ones, bought from amazon and barnes&nobles), the payer can neither recognize the cd titles nor the tracks and shows them as "track 1", "track 2" etc etc...
I was suprprised and a little disappointed. It happens with all the CDs that I tried and most of them are new cds (digitally recorded music and all).
Is this how it will be? Any suggestions/thoughts?

Unless a "legit" music CD is encoded with CD Text, then what you see is normal. Even these days, discs with CD Text do not seem to be the norm, or at least for the CD's I buy (mostly Euro imports).

you can use a program like easy cd-da and write in the text and reburn it if you really must have the cd text

Sadly it is normal. Even CD's with CD Text rarely appear on the screen. It isn't just a Benz thing-my Audi was the same. I have plenty of CD Text discs that show titles everywhere but in the car. Don't know why.

Maybe I'll give it a shot. To be honest, almost all of my CD's are on my iPod, which is connected to the car so I rarely use CD's anyway.
