If I were shopping for a new car in this segment, my money would go to the BMW 535i, that is one splendid motor.

However, I am a Moderator over at Cadillacowners.com and I can tell you the new CTS is one of the finest cars Cadillac has ever produced. The Northstar were notorious for headgasket failures, and alot of people don't like the solid older "classic" Cadillacs with the LT1 and 4.9L V8's.

The CTS since its introduction has been responsible for the change in age AND perception of Cadillac owners as a whole, and the 2008 is a truly beautiful car. I can not fault you for picking one of those up, for everything you get they are a bargain.

No car is perfect, so it’s logical that at least “some” problems and negative
opinions will exist. I trade fairly often and definitely want to hear the good
AND BAD about various models. I realize that in all forums there are some
die-hard owners who become incensed if anyone says anything bad about
the brand. But fellas .. it’s only a CAR! We’re not talking about our mothers!

This extreme “owner-loyalty” is highly prevalent in the Corvette forums I
belong to .. where any “dissenters” are quickly chastised. But, most of us
want to know the bad too. Otherwise, a forum’s value is limited and
somewhat boring. (Too often dealers tell us that “we’re the only one
complaining about that!”) Forum info bolsters our challenges. So, I hope
members won’t be discouraged from reporting ALL helpful good - and bad -
experiences.

FWIW .. since I got my E-350 in June, I've been back for warranty work
several times. If others aren’t experiencing this, good for them.

Regarding MB’s electronics .. of course you are on target.

I agree totally!!! The man even said that he is looking forward to returning the the E-Class when the W212 comes out.

Personally, I think the CTS is a great car. I was comp'd one from Alamo a couple of months ago in Portland, OR. Was supposed to be a DTS, but this is what they had on the lot. I was very happy with the car. It had the touch screen navigation and everything you could think of. Don't get me wrong, I love my '04 E, and although I have been thinking about upgrading and ordering an S600 next year, maybe the year after, I have decided that if I do upgrade, I will keep my E rather than trade it.

One thing he is right about one thing for sure though, there is a lot of competition for MB coming in the near future. Just take a look at the new C. In my opinion, durability yet unknown of course, but the new C is the first car that MB actually built based on what customers said, NOT just some designer somewhere.

MB is a great car, and I hope to always have one as long as I am happy driving it, but it isn't the only brand on the shelf, or in my garage.

Just my $.02
