2006 Mercedes CLS500
Euro Command (DVD in Motion)

This is a great upgrade from the stock Mercedes head unit. It is the Mercedes Benz European Command (head unit) with DVD in motion. Fits all 2003-2008 W211 E-Class and all 2006-2008 W219 CLS. This European Unit is the same as a Command from the U.S. except that it has a DVD drive. It will play your CD's and DVD's. It will play your movies while the car is in motion. It is easy to install, and it is plug and play. Meaning you just take out your stock unit and plug this one in. This unit came out of my 2006 CLS500.

The Price is $700 plus shipping.

Don't you lose satellite radio when you install a Euro-COMAND?

This is actually not a bad price at all, considering MBenzNL wants 2500.00 for this upgrade. Plus you could sell your original COMAND and get back a couple hundred of that 700.00.

And yes, you lose the SAT button but gain a Video button. I guess for TV tuner or rear camera, maybe?

Besides losing the SAT button, don't you also lose the ability to listen to satellite radio? They don't have satellite radio in Europe, so wouldn't a Euro-COMAND prohibit the use of Sirius? That would be an awfully large penalty for the dubious benefit of watching a blockbuster movie on a postage stamp sized screen.

Loose some AM radio station also

For AM radio, I think Euro COMAND will stepping in 9KHz instead of 10KHz. Thus, it may not be able to receive all the available AM radio station in the US.

It is a very nice option, in my case, I my comute is only 10 minutes each way so satellite is not for me, I switched mine because of the nav, but I really enjoy being able to play DVDs. The price is on par too.

I bought from him :(

I bought the DVD Nav unit from this guy and installed it on the weekend. Got my 2007 Nav DVD today and the DVD won't load into the drive. Just makes a bunch of clicking noises. SO be care the Command may not be working either!

Did you ask the dealership what the problem may be? I do know when I spoke to them they mentioned the 2007 DVD was for the ML and the 2006.2 was the latest that would work for my E.

Nav DVD

the nav dvd does not go into the command. The nav dvd is supposed to go in the DVD NAv drive in the trunk. Only CD's and DVD's will work in the actual command unit. YOu have to purchase a DVD drive for your drunk to run the navigation CD in it.

I was referring to the DVD I installed in the trunk. Just took the NAV drive to the dealer who swopped it out for a functioning drive for $210+ tax. It all works perfectly now!

Wow. How did you get them to swap out the Nav Drive? Did they know it was purchased from a third party?
