Passenger airbag off

I notice that when I start my car, I get a message "Passenger airbag not enabled - check operation manual" I did that, but do not remember seeing that before. Is it normal to have that sign (and the passenger airbag OFF lit up on the center console) when I have no passenger? Is there a way always to enable it, regardless of whether there is someone sitting next to me?

The sensor in the seat must detect weight to enable the passenger airbag

There is a setting in the sds ..BUT Dealers will NOT do it as its a MAJOR liability

FYI: Do not place items of electronic equipment on the front-passenger seat (laptops, mobile phones cards with transponders, ski passes or access passes as the signals from electronic equipment can cause interference in the sensor system of the automatic child seat recognition system. This can lead to a system malfunction.

I once jammed something between back of front seat and front of rear seat and created the message. Jammed by moving seat back until it couldn't move further.
