Question Passenger Seat Not Reclining??

Good Evening Guys...

My passenger seat does not recline past 90 degrees upright? I would expect that it should recline "all the way back" like my driver's seat??

Has anyone run into this before?? Quick fixes?? Does it need to be sychronized?? How??

I checked the tracks & there isn't anything blocking it?

Any help or advice is appreciated!

does it try to move at all forward or back? If you have seat memory try using it if it moves further back with it, maybe a bad switch, if the seat back doesn`t do anything could be a bad motor

It does move forward and back. It move fully forward, but in my estimation it should go further back - the drivers side goes further back than the passenger??

it should go all the way just as the drivers side, the syn is only for the seat memory, the gears might be bad, do you hear the motor turning? or some thing jammed into the gear, you may have to pull the back panel off to get a better look

is it the seat back or are talking about the whole seat moving back?

I don't hear the motor run once the seat stops. I checked the tracks (gears?) and nothing is blocking them.

The problem exists in both the backward seat movement AND the seat reclining function.

I am assuming that there is only one motor that reclines the seat, and another motor that moves it forward and back. The motors seem operational, but only to a point - they don't go all the way back?

....just read another couple of postings....could it be that the seat needs to be sychronized? or maybe a fuse in the trunk??

I tried to synchronize the seat - no luck? I checked for blown fuses in the trunk - no luck?

Totally stumped!?

Was it working before? Or you just notice it just now? When you move it all the way back (press and hold), do you hear the relay (one click)? Just like when you re-sync a window you would hear the relay clicks (it prevents the motor from burning up). If it does then nothing is wrong with the motor. You have programming issue.

Fixed!

The MB Dealer fixed the seat yesterday....You guys were right...it needed to by resyncronized! They also had to reset a code in the computer? I tried a couple of times with the instructions from this site to resynch the seat and it didn't work for me??

The good news is that the seat is fixed - and the better news is that the Dealer fixed it "Under Warranty" even though the car is technically out of warranty??!! Very Cool!

Seat wont recline or go back all the way

I had the same issues and there were no answers in this forum. My seal would not recline past 90 degrees or go back all the way. Before you spend a lot of money replacing things, taking the door apart or tearing the seat out, go to the fuse for the memory of the seat on the passenger side and pull it out for about 10 seconds and put it back in. Worked like a charm..

Driver side on the dash, fuse number 23, it's a 30 amp fuse.
