What is the dvd drive for? Also difference betwee C and S mode?

I have an 08 E350 with 6 disc cd changer. I noticed there is a dvd drive ontop of the navi. I was told the dvd disc for the navi is in the trunk, so what is the dvd drive in the front for?

also, what sthe difference between comfort and sport mode? suspension or just where it shifts? i think sports mode revs higher

In case you didn't have the 6 cd changer you would still have a cd player. Probably standard.

You have to go to the audio option on the screen and it will give you the choice of either CD or 6CD.

COMANDS are all different, but in the Audio menu you might have CD and CDS. CD plays the in-dash disk and CDS plays the changer in the trunk.

On mine, the in-dash unit will play .mp3s as well as audio CDs. You can burn an awful lot of tracks on a DVD. A couple of those makes a cheap ipod alternative if you have a DVD player with .mp3 capability.

On an E350 the difference between C and S is the shift points and that the car starts from a full stop in 2nd gear. On a car with airmatic it will also lover the body when you drive faster than a given speed (that I can't remember).

You will notice that the throttle gets a little more 'spongy' when you use C mode.

C is more comfortable suspension and sports is tighter turns? or only the difference in how high it revs?

On and E-class one should have a separate switch for Airmatic suspension settings. If the car does not have Airmatic (I assume that from a US E350), there would be no suspension settings(?).

The tranny program may appear confusing when early models used S & W, and new mostly use C & S. Comfort and Winter should be pretty similar and Sports & Summer, perhaps the change of name with the 7G-tronic where start with second gear (C) is seen the default mode and Summer the default on older cars. Some call Winter "Wet", better in Florida or so

The single slot CD is for a CD not NAV or DVD use. The head unit in the dash is not the NAV unit. It is called the "Comand" unit, a fancy name for display screen, as it comands nothing really. The 6 CD changer had been optional on all E classes until M/Y 07, so it was your only choice for CDs in a non changer equipped car.

When you put a CD into the single slot, the soft key for it will be illuminated as a choice, as well as the CDC button.

C & S Mode

With the transmission in Park, pressing that button changes the shift point program the transmission uses and also eliminates 1st gear. "S" uses 1st and is a more aggressive shifting program, "C" starts the car out in 2nd & is smoother shifting, both up & down.

Comfort & Speed settings ?? Who knows?
