Is there an aftermarket CD changer available that is plug in compatible with the E? I for one would like to install one if so.
If so I don't see any warranty problem unless you are doing something that would be electrically different or you are splicing into wires in some way.
On my 01 SLK 320 I have a trunk mounted Becker that uses the same optical interface and plugs as the MB factory changer. I have no idea what would work in the E. It works through the factory radio exactly like the MB unit.
