Angry Why .... ????

W211's side mirror is so damn expensive????? Auto-dim, heated mirror (ONLY MIRROR) for $700

Long story short:

My driver's side mirror is damaged because was hit by a speeding motorist. My mirror has motorized folding feature and the metal chassis in the mirror is bent. I don't have to change it, but it won't look so perfect if it observe closely.

Driver's side Mirror chassis + motorized folding = $650
Side Mirror = $700
Side blinker = $55
the look on my face when I realize how expensive it is = priceless

Do I have any option left? Will I be able to get cheaper mirror so I don't have to cringe when my mirror were to be hit again.

The insurance rates you pay are based on the costs of replacement parts. Since the car was parked, its not a chargeable accident. Put in a claim.

Car wasn't parked, I drove it, and I don't have Insurance*. I was cruising around 30 km/h and suddenly a wanna-be valentino rossi capped my mirror by zig-zagging thru traffic.

*I don't need insurance because I'm currently in a small city in a third world country. No insurance here is good enough to fully cover my car.

The issue is that your car is RHD, based on IP, and that makes it a little harder to find a replacemnt on this forum.

Its like being "Self Insured" here in the USA. Almost all of the Rental Car companies self insure. Sorry some cowboy clipped you.

I just sent you an email. If you're interested, I was planning on selling my W211 side mirror, ie. auto-dim, heated mirror glass only. I had replaced mine with the convex euro-type.

W/o auto dimmer Right 03-06 $72.50

W/o auto dimmer Left 03-06 $510.00

My left one disappeared, I bought the cheap one and was done with it, just did not connect the harness on the mirror. I have a slight tint on the window and the glare is acceptable.

Good luck

Unfortunately, mine is RHD. Any of you guys know the part number of compatible mirror without auto-dim and autoheat? It's cheaper to go that way because I know, some guy will clip me again.

I replaced the total of units of both of my side mirrors here in Jakarta and paid 10 million IDR (little over a thousand USD). Sound like the usual rip from MB USA. I love my service center here they also charged me only USD 200 for the Ipod kit and installation.

The guy that services my car and I buy my parts from is Martin at ADS phone is +62-21-5695-8181 and his handphone is +62-811-807-797 in Jakarta but doubtful he will re-export goods to you once they are here in country. It really is tough with getting out with Customes here and you have to have a crate of paperwork to do it. Please guys when calling mind the time differences between your country and Jakarta.

That's right, Makassar, did not click, as I remember on your last mail you were getting a S? Email and will tell you the exact price of the trade-in deal I did with him. I paid and traded the old mirrors so got a very nice discount on the price I quoted above on the new mirrors

Not yet, I haven't had a good deal on the S, I heard the S300 is already here in Indonesia, so I'll wait for a good deal on that.

I'll call him today and ask him about the mirrors.

For the S you should contact Yanto the importer I told you about before, I know he brought in around 10 S class about 8 or 10 months ago since Martin told me he was providing the warranty and service for them. If you lost his number let me know and I will pass it to you again. As I said before, for the same imported E I saved 30 to 35,000 USD by buying from Yanto rather than buying from Mercedes Indonesia and did not have to put up with arrogance of MB Indonesia as well.

I meant to ask, have you still got the same phone in your car that came with it or have you changed it. I assume you got the S65 with your car. I have been using that phone for 4 years now and since they are out of production I picked up a couple more at yahoo auctions in Singapore just to have a few spares. Dian Graha here who fix them are going to run out of spare parts one day.

I'm still using that Siemens S65, and it's still working fine. Why don't you get bluetooth module (UHI)?

I want to get bluetooth module as well so I can pair up with Nokia E90.

I have read many issues regarding the actual pairing and trouble doing so. Pairing withe the S65 is not that great as you may have noticed the bluetooth eats that battery terribly.

Why not then use the BT SAP device. The phone would be mostly in deep sleep with BT SAP when the BT device is doing the transmission to the network. E90 supports BT SAP and he seemed to come from an area with GSM coverage.
