which e model do you have/getting
in the 04 model. It will be in the ML as well as the W211. I like the 500 but
really don't want the air suspension especially if I keep the car beyond the
warranty. The 3.7 L 350 engine should have excellent performance with
lots of torque, good fuel economy and no gas guzzler tax. In the meantime
I will continue to enjoy my 02 C320 which is a great sports sedan.

I did not test drive E 500.
did test drive GS 300, 525i, 530i and 2000 E 320.
I felt comfortable with 320.
And I drive less than 5 miles a day.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
240 has not enough options and could be a little underpowered, while the 500 and E55 is too expensive and I don't need the extra power.
The 320 is a good "allrounder".
Also, the quickly increasing disounts that became available right around release of the info on the e350 moved the e500 into my price range - making it a no brainer.
...unless the price works out to >$83K or so.
In that case I'll probably just get an SL500, or maybe a Maserati.
The M6 ought to be a unique and intriguing car worth considering also, a couple years down the road.
Previous car was a 3 liter V6 (maxima) with 190hp, so I figured as long as I'm upgrading, let's *up*grade. (didn't enjoy a lot of things about the current 255hp maxima).
If I were going to get a E3xx, I'd be likely to add the airmatic and a few other items (I'd go with the sport exterior items but since in the US its all or nothing, I'd skip sport) which would drive the cost up close to the E500 anyway.
But the E320 is a great car - I enjoyed driving both of them, and if I were in a country where fuel wasn't as inexpensive at the US, I'd definitely go for the 6 cylinder. The 320 is definitely not short of power, it responds really well considering it weighs about 700lbs *more* than my maxima and only has 31hp more - good passing ability, quiet, smooth.
Ideally V8s belong in places with cheap gas and wide open spaces - like Texas :-)
Go Horns!
That said, in a perfect world:
W211 E55 with all wheel drive (doesn't exist as of yet)
SL55 for the warmer weather
and an *air cooled* 911 Turbo for brute force and a wonderful sound.
