Benz E320
Nav CD replacement

I recently purchased a 2004 E320 that is still under MFG Warranty. The vehicle did not come with a NAV CD. Would I be able to obtain a new 2008 NAV CD through my dealership with my Warranty? Or do I have to purchase one from Navteq?

Yes. If purchased from a MB dealership this should have been covered at the pre-delivery inspection (PDI). Furthermore, you are entitled to the current navigation DVD whether purchasing new or pre-owned. Reason being, you purchased a vehicle equipped with navigation and it should be operating at optimum performance. Unfortunately, most do not eject the navigation DVD in the trunk to see if it is the current version as routinely mentioned here on the forums.

Since it is MY04, in addition mention DTB P-B-82.60/382b to have the current head unit software installed (includes new features) https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....8&postcount=31 and P-B-82.85/524a if new DVD is not recognized. They will update the software to the navigator processor in the trunk.

Nav Cd

Thank you for your reply, I made an appointment today with a local Benz dealership and the service dept. said the replacement of the NAV CD might not be covered under my warranty. Is that true? I purchased the vehicle used with the existing warranty in tact but the vehicle did not come with a NAV CD. Hopefully the service dept will cover the cost of the CD.

A missing DVD is not normally covered under warranty. Where did you purchase the vehicle? If it was a MB dealer, you should have no problem because they sold you a vehicle with an inoperable navigation system (no DVD). However, if you did not purchase from a MB dealer you will need to revisit whoever sold you the vehicle to either produce the navigation DVD or reimburse you for the cost of a new DVD.
