E350 Spare Tire
I just purchased a one owner low mileage E350 from a dealer., when I picked the car up I looked in the trunk for the spare and under the cover was a space for a spare but no spare had a jack and lug wrench said something to the dealer and he said that car didn,t come with a spare it's an option. Anyone know anything about what kind of spare came with the car.
Thanks

did you buy a certified pre-owned? if so, wasn't this disclosed to you at time of purchase verbally/or in writing? i would think that the over 100+ inspection would have discovered this to be missing.

I found out today from the dealer that it is a $650 cost to replace.

In which case you ought to buy a full size wheel/tire combination instead. 16-inch fits for sure because I've BTDT.

A full-size wheel/tire WILL fit in the space for the spare, but the cover won't lie flat. I've tried it. Mercedes should be ashamed to have only the "doughnut" spare. I had a tire fail catastrophically a couple years ago and had to use the temporary spare. Believe me, I was sweating the whole time. That temporary spare is limited to 50 mph! Of course, I was on an interstate highway at the time (naturally).
If anyone can find the cover to the spare tire compartment that allows for a full-size wheel to be stowed, please let all of us know. I wouldn't be surprised if such an item exists (somewhere). There just wouldn't be such a deep depression as the standard cover has.

+ 1 I believe so, all cars should come with a spare I was looking at the sticker price tag when I got my car back in Sept. and doesn't say anywhere about the spare being an option feature.

Hey guys just new in this forum. I just have my E350 2008 MB 4Matic with a little bit of mileage last month and I taught there is no spare tire. Even the dealer told us they are going to replace with a new spare tire. So I went back to the dealer last week and they gave me a new spare tire which they ordered also. When I got home, I'm about to put that spare tire in the trunks and when I open the cover I was surprised that there is a spare tire under it. So i might sell this one if any interested email me at hunk4ubabe2002@gmail.com

Talking about spare tires, I just checked the air pressure in mine for the first time. I've had it for over 4 years now and have never checked it!!! it had 5psi!!!! Filled to 65psi as stated and will check at least 4 times a year now. The X had 18psi and was supposed to have 32. I check my tire pressure weekly or if temperatures change 10+ deg from one day to the next, but never put much thought into spare. I have never....never mind don't want to jinx in :-)
Yes spare is included. I believe only some BMWs with run flats do not have spares. The X5 and 5 series I know for sure

i have a spare in mine, but for peace of mind, i went to tirerack and looked for their clearance section and picked up a wheel and tire for less than $300. It fits in the spare storage, but the cover is not flat/flush, but a inch or so higher. Rather have that than a spare tire when needed.

I don't know if it's the same in a sedan, but in the wagon, the spare lays in the well with the valve facing down, so you have to remove the spare from the well just to check the tire pressure. Since this is such a pain, you're not likely to do it too often.

It was in there the same way. Difficult. Wouldn't it be nice if the service department would check it while doing their service intervals! Pay them enought to do it!!!

As soon as I discovered I had only a temporary spare, I called the MB parts dept. about buying a full-size wheel, and I was told a full size spare won't fit flush under the cargo area in a wagon.

I'm a diesel guy so only have sedans and 225/55-16 tires/wheels and can report zero problems fitting a full-size spare. I'd be VERY surprised if wagons were any different.

I did check. After the parts guy (who is very knowledgeable) told me that the full-size tire wouldn't fit, I jacked up the car and removed a wheel. It didn't come anywhere close to fitting under the cargo floor.

They put a styrofoam donut under the minispare that gets removed when fitting a full-size spare. Sounds like you have 17-in wheels.
