Smile E320 2004 Service B,C,D ...

Hi all,

Can somebody explain to me when the dealer mention Service B,C,D ect have been performed on a vehicle. What does each service B,C,D covers.

How often or at what mileage do I have to change the engine air filter elements and the combined filter located at the left corner of the engine inside the plastic black box?

Thanks a lot

All of the service intervals are listed in your service booklet as well as the listing for what is required for each service. Look in the back of the booklet after the dealer tear off sheets and you will see all the service letters and what each one entails.

The letters denote the time needed to complete the service ie: A-1 hr, B-2hr, C-3hr, D-4hr, E-5hr.......there are a total of 8. As far as what it needs the vehicle decides, yeah, depending on time, miles and driving conditions it will call for different items. You can see these items through your instrument cluster. The dealer access the FSS system with their computer and print out what is due. The letters are there to help set up appointments.

If there is a + sign after the service display then you will need brake pads and possibly brake rotor replacement. The front brake pads have 2 wear sensors, one is at 50% of the pad and the other is at 10%. Example: new brakes, vehicle driven 15K miles and it cuts through the 50% sensor, FSS reccords this value, vehicle is now driven 12K miles, FSS now advises driver that at next service the brakes need to be checked. If ignored and when the second sensor is cut then driver will get a light on dash.

Because it's a little confusing, MB went back to the A and B service.
