I am hearing rumors that the 04 and earlier do not have a lighter in the ashtray area under the cd changer. Reason I am asking is that I want to put either an XM CommanderMT or ExpressRC in there and the lighter is in the way by 1/2". If an 04 or earlier's console does not include the lighter, I am going to try to find one so that I can put the radio in there.

I have an 04 and I do have a lighter under the changer.

In my 2008, at least, you can remove the ash tray itself, which leaves you with a larger storage area. There's also a small rubber mat that you can buy for under $5 that fits in there to keep stuff from sliding around. See my post from last week about this, entitled "Low cost interior mod."

I have one as well.

I use the ashtray for an iPod holder. I also open the wood cover on the cupholder, and while leaving the cup holder closed, use it as a cell phone holder for my Palm Treo 650. Works well, even with cornering at high speeds. The CL500's, on the other hand, doesn't work to well.
