Is my hood gap too big?

doesn't look right and my car is an 08 and a week old

From what I can see in the pic, yeah it does. That's why the aftermarket guys came up with the chrome headlight surrounds, to cover the gap.

If it is a concern, I would suggest when you stop buy for the 1000-3000 mile welcome visit, have them compare your vehicle to another MY08.

Note you are entitled to a free tire rotation (if applicable) before 6500 miles, and free wheel alignment (i.e.: correct drifting) and/or brake pad and rotor replacement (i.e.: brake squeal) for the first 12 months/12000 miles whichever comes first.

Is it possible to just push down on the hood hard? It's only on one side.

First, just try opening and reclosing the hood normally. If that doesn't do it,
then see the dealer.
