Need Navigation DVD's...where to start?
My dealer "misplaced" mine when I bought the car from them and it looks like I will never see them. So, I want to go ahead and buy them....but before I use the MB parts dept., I wanted to save on some costs. Where can I buy them? My car is an 05, so can I get a later year version? Can I download just my state from somewhere?
Thanks fellas...

Anyway, it's "in the mail" as of today, so we'll see.
And in their defense, the car was perfect. Just missing the owners manual and nav DVD when delivered.

Are you aware the car should have two manuals? One for the car and one for the COMAND?
Both of these have Mercedes-Ben part numvers and are a must read
Good luck with the DVD

John

OK, so I finally got the DVD. It's from the MB dealer and for "my04-08 E class." After several ins/outs, it finally recognized the DVD.
But it is just a white screen with a little target in the middle wherever I drive. It has some info at the very bottom, but there is nothing else but white. Am I missing something?

I have a Lexus too and they are definitely nice cars. The w211 is also a nice car. Don't let a few minor setbacks color your view of the car.

I would suggest updating the navigation processor software (drive located in trunk). This will solve the recognition problem. In addition, have the COMAND headunit software updated at the same time to improve system reliability while adding features: navigation mutes with MUTE button, ETA (distance & time) displayed below, and telephone signal strength in status line during active route guidance.

Not sure what they did, but they did some sort of software update and it is working perfect now. Well, I wouldn't say perfect....that thing is not user friendly compared to the others I've had.

Actually the more I play with it, the more cool things I am finding out. So, I like it so far.
Btw, the dealer just ordered mine, so I am not sure what year disc I have. I assume the latest, but the numbers on the disc are:
BQ 6 46 0232
A211 827 17 65
Version 7.0
Is that the latest?

my brother bought a $15k car from them and it was hands down the worst car-buying experience I've ever heard of (and I've bought a lot of cars). Granted he was a noob so some of the issues could have been confronted with a more savy buyer.

Yes. Did you scroll to that page using the arrows and menu buttons? Obviously, it won't look like the nav screen. It is just a very simplified display.

Finally was able to pull something up on search. Seems like the dealer needs to port into my IC to enable it. wtf, another software update?
Back to the dealer.... The glass is 1/2 full. 1/2 full....

I know. I've cycled through all screens, and it goes from Audio, temp, tropometer, reset then back to audio. I've even been in the service screen, to no avail.

Pretty strange if you don't have the menu, this could be the case with a retrofitted Navi when the IC version coding has been omitted. Does your data card indicate Navigation from the factory?
Anyway, not a big deal to have the cluster coded.

I did not read the whole thread but if you don't have the Navi menu at the IC, that is a version coding issue, not a SW update.

Even if the car had a new IC, it should have maintained the Navi version coding. Perhaps someone has been playing with the IC coding, like phone kit retrofit or some Tele-aid work and has coded it incorrectly. Of course it could be related to IC change but at least equally likely something else.
