Cool Bi Xenon head lights

Guys, does anyone know if all your E500 have the white Bi Xenon lights or Blue colour like the Men II Black one. I thought it was but actually mine is white color.

But I have seen the following pictures on other web site, it shows blue color. Is it something special order? Please check out this link for pictures.

http://www.ca101031.com/pic/

My email is cedric168@yahoo.com

PS: Also what does button do for the Air suspension, the one on the left. Its red light off, the car stays normal, if its on, will the car drop an inch or rise an inch , not sure what is does.

Regards,
Cedric

the bi-xenons are an option, and the left button is to raise the car, the middle is to go to sport 1 and sport 2, which lowers the car

Bi-Zenon

My bi-zenons are indeed blue...although not as blue as shown in the link on Cedric1031's post.

While looking at the lights in my garage you can see the blue...but, it really stands out on the road. I notice a blue tint on the rear bumpers of cars ahead (temporarily) of me.

Additionally, the beam of light is very sharp...look toward the "edge" of the light beam and you should see blue.

Actually, that pic was taken when the lights were FIRST turned on. I believe while the xenon gas warms up, the color is a bright blue...you should notice it when you first turn your headlights on. After 30 secs or so it'll turn bright white with a hint of that blue (as gobenz said). If you want that bright blue, I believe the 10K Xenon blubs will do it. MBs come with 4.3k bulbs. Those photographers know how to make pics come out nice :p

here is a 6000K xenon bulb in a bi-xenon projector ML headlight. Still not as blue as your pic.

Al I remember reading that the new Benzes come with 4300K bulbs. Are those 6000K aftermarket or factory? Just curious.

Bi-Xenons

Xenon headlights are not 'standard' on any New E-Class model. They are included in the E-1 and/or the E-3 (Sports Package) options. There is no straight 'xenon' option. Bi-xenon, as defined by MB, means that both low beams and hi-beams are xenon lamps.

To expand on this a little further... the evolution of xenons are now changing to bi-xenons (both high and low beam xenons). So, now it's either halogen or bi-xenon. Low beam only xenons are now non-existent in MBs.
However, even with bi-xenons, I believe there are still halogen high beams, so you can "flash" your lights if you need to.

Rock, a friend of mine had bi-xenon's installed on his 209 CLK which didn't have it standard at the dealers so I am sure it can be done for the w211 too. The cost was $1500 which is more expensive than having the option (without it being included in a package) straight from mb.. I think its $900 from mb.

I made a huge mistake and didn't order E1... Took delivery last Saturday and told dealer I will eventually want to add bi-xenons. Dealer said it could only be done at the factory. I am hoping the salesman is mis-informed. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.

I am sure the headlights itself can be retro-fitted, but will it have the auto leveling feature also? Maybe mbtech208 can clarify this for us.

2003 E500
try another dealer, there are like 15 within 50 miles of New York City.

prestigemb has 31 E500s on their website, and I sorted by price and every one of the 10 most expensive ALL had E1

a little legwork. it's not that hard.

E500
I missed the bi-xenon option too. I contacted about 5 or 6 dealers. they all said it can't be done. I think the main reason is because of washer, which is required by law. However, you can get a aftermarket xenon installed, then, the dealer has to program the computer [you need to have friend @ the delaer for this]. This will cost around $1,500, but you won't get bi-xenons, you will get regular xenons

In Canada, bi-xenons.....

For the benefit of Canucks, the E500 in Canada comes with bi-xenons and heated front seats as standard equipment.
