What do I gain/lose by updating Comand DVD from 4.1 to 5.0?

Hi all,

I'm in the UK and have an 05 E320CDI with Comand. The DVD is currently v4.1 (Europe) and I have the opportunity to buy v5.0 cheaply from a friend who is upgrading to whatever the current version is.

From various searches on here it looks like I will gain TMC and ETA (both of which would be great) but I might lose video in motion which was enabled when I got the car and is a godsend for keeping the kids quiet with Barney DVDs .

I'm also a little confused over whether the disc will just slot into the (trunk-located) drive and work or whether I would have to update the Comand software as well via a CD that slots into the head unit.

Many thanks in advance for your help,

TB

P.S. I intend to detail the car this weekend so hopefully I can put up some pics soon!

Well, for the 58 people who were interested enough to look, the answer appears to be lose=nothing, gain=TMC and ETA, plus slightly better mapping.

Decided in the absence of any enlightened comment I'd just stick it in and see what happened
