Poll: ***Please post your E320 Bluetech (and CDI) MPG Data***
I am sitting here thinking about what car to get when I replace my R350 daily driver. Gas is getting pretty pricey and I am trying to figure out the savings (if any) that comes with a CDI or Bluetech over say a normal E350. Diesel is now 5.30 or so a gallon here so I want to see what real owners are getting as far as MPG goes on the freeway and around town so I can do some accurate calculations.
I can get a E320 and register it in California starting January 1 so I need to wait for that or go for different car now.
I hear from some that a Bluetech can get over 40 mpg on the highway (up to 45) but I find that very hard to believe given the EPA ratings. These same people say the car gets 32 around town which seems high again.
Figured you guys would be an honest non biased group to try and sample.
Thanks for the help!
Lets see your year, cars miles, city and highway MPG findings from your personal data.

As for price of diesel, its very expensive and I have seen $5.29 in my area but it takes your farther (more mileage)

Secondly, are you buying a used car? If not, please tell me how you will be able to buy and register a new E320 diesel in CA. I am planning to purchase one myself, but with a slightly different method.

The latest version of the car has been approved for sales in California. Finally!

On a side note, would you guys have ordered the 333 sport package on your E320's had you had the choice? I cant understand why they dont want to let you get a nicely equipped Bluetech. In europe you can but I guess they figure Americans dont want a sporty (ish) diesel! I would have to put 18's on the car, get some H&R coilovers and find a set of brake calipers to make it fit my tastes. All very doable (already have the wheels too).
Thanks for the info. Appreciate it for sure.

I will call my MB dealer right now about Jan 2009 certitifcation for the Bluetec, and place an order for one (ED, of course) if they can.
1.The ML, GL, R Bluetecs will be available in Fall 2008.
2. The GLK Bluetec should come at the beginning of 2009.
3. The E320 Bluetec is only available as a 2 year limited milage lease with no purchase option, not orderable, limited to inventory.
