E 500 Motor Mounts

Have most of your dealerships received your motor mounts to resolve the engine ticking problem? Mine still haven't received them here in Houston, and I hate the sound the car makes....sounds like a Chevy Z28.

I got mine motor mounts replaced in Houston at Greenway. My service advisor said that the first one "came in right away", but it took another 3 weeks for the other one to arrive. Go figure.

Is the ticking a diesel sound or something different?

my parts were on order, but they got them after a week, jhb, it is a little sound when you accelerate, if you go slowly on a hill you will hear it, but the easiest way to check if you have it is to open the hood, start up the engine, the engine will kind of move, thats normal, then accelerate slowly, if your engine moved right to left, then you have it, if it doesnt, then your safe, it isnt the biggest pain, but you can hear it

I believe they are the same. My car sounded like a diesel on mid acceleration and I wondered if this was the same problem. The replacing the mounts fixed it.

Im picking up my car Jan 18th- E500/sport- keyless-upgraded harman.

I have read my ports aboiut the motor mounts. Should I be asking the day I collect this vehicle if my motor mounts have been fixed or changed?

Would appreciate some assistance!

Most of the cars don't have the problem. You are reading about the ones that do. They are not replacing all the motor mounts routinely. If you want check at the dealer before you close the deal. The majority of E500s are fine.

mike, i would just tell them you want to see the engine and start it up, then when you rev the engin, it shouldnt move a lot, if it does, then you have bad motor mounts, they should know about them, if they disagree, then just try to compare with other cars, luckily you wont get them , gl with your car

If you test drive the car, you will know right away. If you turn down the radio you will notice the sound at mid-throttle. It will sound kind of trashy. The best description is like a diesel.

This worked for me: I just printed out the forum thread with the corresponding Service Bulletin Number and gave it to my Service Advisor, who validated the SB (which states that the ticking sound occurs between 1300 and 3500 RPM) and then proceeded to check for parts availablility (2 mounts).

Net - he expects that I'll have the car in next week for the one-day job (which apparently includes some fly wheel re-calibration).
