Airmatic pump just runs and electrical burning smell
My initial thought was to keep driving home and take it to the dealer in the morning.
Fear got the best of me and I turned around and took it in, leaving it running in the service line. I wanted to make sure the SA saw the light.
After turning it off, this buzzing sound was coming from under the hood. I was smelling a faint electrical burning. A tech walked up and opened the hood, pulled off the front engine cover and unplugged the pump. It was obvious to me at that time that the pump was the electrical smell.
It would seem that either the ECU screwed up and told the pump to run continuously, or there's a leak in the air suspension, or most likely a faulty relay.
Any ideas?
The reason for the post is....should they replace the air pump in addition to whatever control was causing the problem? and...
Has anyone else had this happen?

You don't mention any "car too low" message on the cluster or any corner being low? It should not be a leak at the struts or the valves controlling each strut then.
I guess you will tell what the issue was.
It turns out that that pump on top of the engine is the air injection pump for emissions. It was running constantly. The airmatic pump is in a different location, apparently.
They're changing the pump out now.
I'll update this post when I get the car back.
