Eratic remote locking/unlocking
My '06 E500, with 15000 miles, seems to have a gremlin in its remote locking/unlocking function. There are times when the key will only lock but not unlock the doors - yet the key will operate the trunk opener. 15 minutes later everything will be fine. Other times it seems to lose the programming to open all the doors and will open only the driver's door. 10 minutes later the original programming comes back and all doors open. At times there is no reaction to the key at all. Both keys have intermittent problems. I replaced the batteries in one key to no avail. Its been happening a few times a month for a few months. I doubt the dealer will be able to duplicate the problem and dread killing hours dropping off and picking up the car only to be told it seems fine. Anyone else have any similar issues?

I had this problem in the past. Turns out the issue is not the battery, but the contacts. I brought my key fob to the dealer, and he figured out the issue right away. He bent the contacts a bit, and I haven't had problems since.
