Otto's steering wheel trick was in the manual for my '95 S-Class, but then who reads manuals?

MOST MERCEDES VEHICLES YOU CAN RESYNC THE SEATS BY MOVING IN THE DIRECTION THAT THE SEAT WILL MOVE ,ALL THE WAY TO THE STOP,AND THEN THE OTHER WAY ALL THE WAY UNTIL STOP.
THE RADIO ,DEPENDS ON THE MODEL .
MOST OF THE TIME ,,JUST ENTER CODE,AND THEN HIT THE SC BUTTON,,,OR THE OK BUTTON ON SCREEN.

IF THE HEAD RESTRAINTS STILL DO NOT WORK ,IT MAY NEED A HEAD RESTRAINT TRANSMISSION ....

thank you for tips

DSMIT,

I think I can do all by myself now.

You are very knowledgeable for mb cars -- I think you should publish a user manual for us. (I will buy one )

How long do you estimate the 2 batteries last if I don't use my car? (with alarm and without alarm)

Otto

DSMIT:

I am sure that Otto was not being sarcastic. He really meant that he appreciated the information, as we all do. He was complementing you on your knowledge.

Not a lot of "smart ***" stuff on this board, thankfully.

I am sure he accepts your apology

Re: 2 batteries--regular and reserve

It seems that some things (and models) got messed up here.
In a 211, everything gets current from the battery in the trunk.
The other battery has a sort of back-up function for when the battery in the trunk suddenly should fail or become too low. No current means (almost) no brakes.

Normal current in rest for a 211 is 0,08 Amp maximum. In this situation two weeks should be no problem with battery in good condition.

I do not think it is a good idea to disconnect the battery yourself.

thank patrick and I will leave my car alone and enjoy my vacation

do you know how long I can leave it alone? (is it ok for 3 weeks? thinking about taking longer vacation.)

how do you charge you car battery before leave it alone? how many hours I should drive it in the highway to get a full charge or 90% charge of battery?

half hour drive should be good enough

before you go to the vacation

1. find a good traffic condition highway which provides you drive at constant speed. (avoid stop-and-go)

2. turn off all possible electrical loads, e.g. hk sound system, ac, heated seats/wheel, etc. if you can drive it during the daytime that will be better -- no lights.

half hour drive should give your battery a very solid charge.

according to patrick's calculation,

Normal current in rest for a 211 is 0.08 Amp maximum. In this situation two weeks should be no problem with battery in good condition.
2 weeks is ok.

Guys.... no problem

I travel widely. I regularly leave my MB for 2-4 weeks, in freezing garages. NO problem ever. A modern car like a MB should NOT have a problem being left in a cold garage for a month.

Thumbs up Speaking from experience....

I was out of the country and left my 01 C320 in the garage for 3.5 months. It started right up when I came back. No problem whatsoever!

Talk to the guys at Batterytender.com

I have three "waterproof 800" trickle chargers and they work great. I put them on my cars after the 2nd day of not driving them. This keeps the batterys conditioned and top charged. Much better for a car then shutting the battery off and have the car have to re-learn.

It works very well. I use it on all of my cars. Once you hard wire the connectors to the battery terminals, it is has a quick connect/disconnect. It doesn't overcook the battery and takes less than a minute to pop the hood and plug it in.

Multiple
I have been very impressed with the quality of the batteries MB puts in their cars. My last one went 5 years with no problems before I sold the car. It's the only battery I have ever had that went for 5+ years with no apparent loss of strength or problems. I would like to know who manufactures them.
