how to you avoid the dead battery after you have a long vacation ?
Where do you find this? Is this info in the manual?
Otto
how to resync the front seat head restraints?
do i need to do something for "re-enter the radio code"?
thank you
Otto
THE RADIO ,DEPENDS ON THE MODEL .
MOST OF THE TIME ,,JUST ENTER CODE,AND THEN HIT THE SC BUTTON,,,OR THE OK BUTTON ON SCREEN.
IF THE HEAD RESTRAINTS STILL DO NOT WORK ,IT MAY NEED A HEAD RESTRAINT TRANSMISSION ....

I think I can do all by myself now.
You are very knowledgeable for mb cars -- I think you should publish a user manual for us. (I will buy one
)How long do you estimate the 2 batteries last if I don't use my car? (with alarm and without alarm)
Otto
OTTO ,,
YOU KINDA SOUND LIKE YOURE BEING A SMARTASS.
IF NOT ACCEPT MY APPOLIGIES
I am sure that Otto was not being sarcastic. He really meant that he appreciated the information, as we all do. He was complementing you on your knowledge.
Not a lot of "smart ***" stuff on this board, thankfully.
I am sure he accepts your apology

...and I believe this is the one to provide the electricity power for start engine. The other one holds all memory setting, e.g. my memory seats, radio stations, etc. When I reconnect back the battery in the trunk, the only things that have to do is reset/synchorize windows and roof...
In a 211, everything gets current from the battery in the trunk.
The other battery has a sort of back-up function for when the battery in the trunk suddenly should fail or become too low. No current means (almost) no brakes.
Normal current in rest for a 211 is 0,08 Amp maximum. In this situation two weeks should be no problem with battery in good condition.
I do not think it is a good idea to disconnect the battery yourself.
how do you charge you car battery before leave it alone? how many hours I should drive it in the highway to get a full charge or 90% charge of battery?
1. find a good traffic condition highway which provides you drive at constant speed. (avoid stop-and-go)
2. turn off all possible electrical loads, e.g. hk sound system, ac, heated seats/wheel, etc. if you can drive it during the daytime that will be better -- no lights.
half hour drive should give your battery a very solid charge.
according to patrick's calculation,

3.5 months -- I should have more long trips from now.
(i decide to save the money for a tricke charger.)
is your car alarm on while you are away?
otto
benggolf, is your car alarm on while you are away?
Otto
I have three "waterproof 800" trickle chargers and they work great. I put them on my cars after the 2nd day of not driving them. This keeps the batterys conditioned and top charged. Much better for a car then shutting the battery off and have the car have to re-learn.
It works very well. I use it on all of my cars. Once you hard wire the connectors to the battery terminals, it is has a quick connect/disconnect. It doesn't overcook the battery and takes less than a minute to pop the hood and plug it in.
