Problem with Navigation/Map

Today while driving home my navigation and map suddenly stopped working. The message I get on the Command screen says: "Navigation activated.... please wait". I wait and wait and wait..... nothing happens. I even tried the old "turn off the car, turn it back on" trick, but I still got the same error. Is anyone else having this problem? Is our navigation sat. down or is this something I'm going to have to have serviced at the dealership?

I had this happen (with same message displayed) on my 2004 E500 a couple of weeks ago. My shut off and immediately restart did not work either. When I got home I ejected the nav data disc in the trunk and re-inserted it. It has worked perfectly ever since. I don't know why it happened in the first place AND I don't know if it was fixed by the disc eject/re-insert or by just allowing the buses to power down before starting again. Something out of those two fixed it and I hope the same is true for you.

Had this happen a few times also.

Eject/re-insert did not do the trick. Off/on did not help either.

Leaving the car and giving up seemed to do the trick, as the next time I drove after the problem, it did not re-occur.

I had the same problem numerous times, it was a bad disc, dealer repkaced it with a later version.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I left the car in the garage for a few days while I was out of town and this morning it worked perfectly. At least if it does it again, I'll know what to do.
