What is E350W?

I got data sheet for 09 E-class and it shown as E350W. I hope it isn't wagon. MSRP looks also suspicious, $1K below of base prace listed on MBUSA. Does somebody know why?

But mainly when heading the body number, like W211 versus S211. The E350W isn't anything "official" in my opinion, a bit like some E320S for sports. I would have interpreted this to mean Wagon. I guess you'll let us know.

Believe it or not, the E350W means E350 sedan and the E350S means E350 Wagon!

The W designation indicates sedan and the S designation indicates wagon. Very strange, but it's true.

Sometimes, the letter T is used to describe wagon.

I don't like "believe me or not" statements even if they came from Dr. Dieter Zetsche. The statement isn't accurate worldwide anyway.

But I can believe that this is these days common and well known way of presenting MB models in the US, I guess this is what you tried to convince me? This is fine since the person asking was from the US but your statement was not limited to US which makes it inaccurate.

A bit of background and explanations would always be useful for other forum members too. I understand that for normal sales talks one cannot use the S211/W211 notation when selling an E-class car but have still taken part of this notation to be visible for the public (while hardly even internal documentation like WIS/EPC are using these letters).

Sorry Barry that I did not take your word before now. This terminology isn't in use at our market but I should have believed what you stated for the US market (and should have done some homework if in doubt to familiarise myself with your notations).

Eh... I'm no expert... Just an owner. Certainly no offense taken. There are however a couple of people here whose posts are certainly very credible and helpfull to the people who post here. You are certainly in that group.

Marketing people and sales people often use a certain phrase when speaking about the cars here in the USA, whether or not that's the phrase in use in other parts of the world... it is crazy that here in the US W generally means Sedan and S means Wagon.. in common-speak... and sometimes "S" is understood to be a salesmans shorthand for Sport.

Generally speaking I get the feeling that except for a certain few very well trained Techs in the shop, the car is better understood in Europe than it is here by the people who sell and service them.

My insurance company classifies the e-class as W or S.

I went through the process as the original poster here to figure it out.

I believe in the US the W means the car has the sport package. An E350 is a sedan without the sports package.
