about CPO
Hello...got a 2005 e320 from a MB dealer. When all negtiations are done then the salesman pitch in that I have to buy the CPO separately to have the car CPO'd so I can get more warranty. What Im asking is ..the car is in the sales lot I purchased it then bought the CPO then drive the car home the same day. Do i get any certificate or does the dealer need to do something first with the car to be a CPO car? or do I get any certificate from the dealership? kinda confuse now have te car for 6 months.
tnx

If you purchased from a MBZ dealer, they should have provided you a copy or brochure of the terms and conditions of the CPO warranty, ie. what is covered, not covered. They also should have provided you a check list of
what was inspected on the car to qualify it as a CPO.
MBUSA should also have record of a CPO car status by Vehicle ID Number(VIN)number. You can request a copy from them as well as a copy Vehicle master inquiry (VMI) which will show the cars service history performed by MBz.

If the car is a true CPO then there should be a sticker affixed to the drivers B-pillar. You can also call MBUSA and inquire if the car as listed as a CPO.
If you have not received paperwork in six months time then there may be a problem.
There is a very specific set of inspections to be able to sell the car as a CPO and there is a checklist provided that these have all been verified as passing, so that the car can be sold as such.
I have never heard of selling the car and then selling the CPO.
How would the salesperson know that the car would even pass the certification guidelines?

2004 E55 AMG; 1995 Porsche 993 Cab.
If it's a CPO car, then the sale price includes a 1 yr warranty on top of the normal MB one..
Example...
assume in service date is March 15th 2005 (date vehicle first sold)
normal MB warranty expires March 14th 2009 (assuming no overmileage)
A CPO sold car warranty expires March 14th 2010 (the extra year).
You *may* purchase one or two years on TOP of this... (@ extra cost).. meaing your warranty is either until March 14th 2011 or 2012 (using this example).
I bought two extra years on my '04 E55... good til March 2011 for me!
